Question for any and all who make music/ audio using Linux:
Have you used, or do you have any experience of, the DAW Ardour? Is it any good? Would be of use for working with audio? Problems or faults? Any advice would be welcomed.
Alright, I have a new laptop for reasons and am going to venture into the world of #Bitwig under Linux.

In the late 1900s I mucked about in UNIXes when I was on the helpdesk for a university. I made shell scripts and understood jokes about vi vs. emacs. I haven't really touched Linux this century, and I am well aware things have moved on a lot.
I'm looking at Manjaro, btw.
Who's making music on #Linux? Is it realistic to replace a #MacBook with a Linux machine in a recording studio? Does it play nice with external devices? Every day I find time to create or record *something* in the studio. No matter what.
I call it the Daily Catch.

Fresh Debian 12 Linux install...
Windows is gone... 
And now the work begins! 
I need help from the #musicproducing bubble.
I'm using an old PC running #LinuxMint ( #xfce ) for #producing and #recording.
Main software is #LMMS and #Audacity.
I'd like to use a #MIDIkeyboard, best with some #Pads (like an #Akai #MPC) for playing #Samples for beats. But I'd like to use it in Linux.
Everytime I'm searching for information online it takes 2-4 minutes till: 
My head explode.
The instructions for me, always seems kind of like this:
"Connecting the JACK-ALSA-Pod-Cable-Hypendum with the controller. Then Set your DAW-software via Wine up and in the last step just persuade Bill Gates, that he's sporting a fluffy moustache, wich is strokeable." ARRGH.
Please, I'm not a huge Linux-brain. Nor intend I to become one. I just wanna make music! And this without use unfree software.
Is there – at best – a plug-and-play solution for my MIDI-Keyboard wish?
