Managed to get remote desktop working which makes it easier to do things in the GUI versus the ProxMox default setup. But now trying to setup an ftp server isn't working. I've got something misconfigured so I'm unable to login to it via ftp/SFTP/ssh successfully. For my specific use case I have to use port 21 and old school FTP protocol. This machine is behind a firewall and I'll block remote access.

With XFCE, when using desktop settings, you can change your desktop to only show the icons of running and minimized applications. So, I’ve tinkered a bit, and have found with no menu bar, no panel (system tray excepted) and no start menu, I simply invoke the XFCE appfinder, and open the app from there. Super sleek, quiet and calm. Screenshots eventually.
