Lol this has been sitting around for days. Pls take it off my hands. Haha!

I have a code to give away for Softube’s Wasted Space plugin.

softube.com/wasted-space

Blurb:

Instant, extreme lo-fi digital reverb for creative production and sound design

Authentic aliasing artifacts and distortion with Softube-quality sound and workflow

Three versions included: the native plug-in, the Modular module, and the Amp Room module

DM me for the code. First come first served and I’ll update this post when it’s been claimed. 😊👍

www.softube.comWasted SpaceFor instant and extreme digital lo-fi reverb, reach for Wasted Space. Wasted Space gives you the retro ’80s aliasing artifacts currently trendy in pop and electronic genres. Put it straight on a track to bring elements to the front of the mix and go from lackluster to out-of-this-world in a flash.

I'm unhappy to report this, but #Harrison #Mixbus today has let me down. Or, to be honest: I was also slightly under-prepared for the #recording session. I had entered my Mixbus 10 Pro license key and it had swallowed it. But then when I loaded the backing tracks into it, it played this random demo mode noise. Okay, things may happen, but since the producer/songwriter and her double bass player were ready to rumble, I didn't have any time to get this fixed.

So what to do? Obviously: Start up #Ardour and get the recording done.

Ardour as a #DAW on an old #MacBook 2017 running #Monterey still, with an #RME #Fireface400 via a stupid adapter chain to Thunderbolt3… what can you say about it? Well, I can say: We had a 5hr recording session without any hickups – technically counting 30 takes.

Why #OSX anyways? Only one reason: #Totalmix instead of #ffadomixer. I do all mixing on #Linux with Mixbus. But for this I'll just pass on stems to the studio which happens to be located in some other country.

Recommendations for beginners daw?
I'm teaching a 9 year old to play keys. He's been playing around with garage band and I'm trying to get him interested in building productions up more from scratch and playing and recording his own parts. He needs to build some simple grooves and play around recording something on the keys and loop just that one or two bars that sounds good.
Requirements are windows and free (or at least cheap)

Ah, #Harrison #Mixbus 10 Pro on an elderly #OSX, works out of the box, such a good #DAW.

The license is personal. So you can install Mixbus on any of your machines if you and only you are using it. I really hope Harrison will stick to this policy.

Because actually if I really do just the tracking on OSX, I use #Ardour instead anways.

It took me longer to find out how to do a screen shot on OSX than to install Mixbus.

Now let's see what if the #RME #Fireface400 still likes me.

EDIT: Oh yes, the Fireface400, with this stupid chain of adapters from Thunderbolt3 down to Firewire 400, still works. What however went bad is these two solemn USB-C/Thunderbolt connectors on the MacBook. Loose contact on both. And there's no other connectors. Let's see what poisonous Kontakt60 spray can do.😈

Most expensive mics I've ever bought. Used that money from my recent clearouts to fund this, a new amp and a pedal.

Thanks to the people who recommended the pedal on here. Havent tried it out yet. Amp is incredible! Havent tried the mics yet either - bought for acoustic guitar, supposed to be the very best pencil condensers out there.

I'm planning to use what I've learned in the studio to make my next album at home.

RN I'm thinking of running everything to Reaper through the TASCAM Mk II, using the effect send outputs (Mk II doesn't have a "tape out" port).

Not sure how to deal with sync, beyond the zoom tool and eyeballs and ears.

I'm curious if anyone has some ideas about that?

Edit: it does have a "sync" out I'll have to play with

okay, cleaned up the surrounding code, added some #ui gimmicks, and next thing to do will be saving files - for real for real.

big milestone given #tek still can't! i'll post a proper screencast, too, to showcase the improved #tui and the general workflow.

building a tool for preparing releases (not to mention that whole #diy #daw thing) instead of making music ... what is wrong with me ... smh. #xkcd 1205 comes to mind...
