Woo! Well on my way to getting structure-from-motion implemented on #android ! I got OpenCV to link as a dependency!
Despite #photogrammetry being extensively used on mobile, it has yet to be implemented #opensource style. That's why I'm taking ownership of it.

Over 100 Chachapoya structures discovered at Gran Pajatén in Peru’s Andes
Archaeologists have uncovered over 100 previously unknown structures at Gran Pajatén, a centuries-old archaeological complex in Peru’s Río Abiseo National Park. The discovery fundamentally reinterprets the site, one of the most iconic remnants of the Chachapoya civilization...

Last Wednesday the Birchgletscher in the Swiss Alps collapsed, devastating large parts of the village #Blatten and blocking the Lonza river which created a small lake which destroyed even more houses.
Thanks to aerial images shared by #swisstopo, I was able to create a 3D model of the area.
You can explore it here https://skfb.ly/pxHLC
I don’t have a 3D scanner but I want to 3D scan something.
What’s the recommendation in the year two thousand and twenty five?
Photogrammetry with meshlab? Lidar scan with my phone?
I have a light box and a motorized turntable if that is useful.
Anyone east of Seattle have equipment they want to share?

I am an #archaeologist who specialises in helping other specialists to read faint or eroded inscriptions, and make petroglyphs and decorations on monuments easier to see. I work freelance on projects across the world. Contact me if you’d like my help.
I have made many nice discoveries during my career from carvings at Stonehenge, animal-headed saints, and countless cup-marks.
I use #3Dscanning, #photogrammetry, #RTI and lots more digital techniques, some of my own devising.

Hi!
I am Christian, a 3d generalist based in Germany.
My current focus is building a strong portfolio centered around Photogrammetry and Cultural Heritage.
You can check out my 3d scans by visiting this collection on sketchfab:

And here is a teaser of a current Work in Progress 3d scan of one of the many Bismarck Towers. This one is situated in Aachen on the "Ehrenfriedhof".
found this on my hard drive and decided to render out a turnaround
it was my first ever attempt at photogrammetry, its a bit patchy in places as I was just using my phones camera
its pretty magical just being able to take an object from the real world into your 3d renderer
Since this seems to be a new trend, here’s a short introduction to …me
I am Freddie (like Mercury) and I am currently doing my PhD at #FraunhoferIPM and @unifreiburg. For my PhD, I am using #Photogrammetry to model the influence of #wind on the movements of a #tree. Sounds pretty weird at first, but when you get to the bottom of it, it is actually super interesting
Before that, I studied #Geodesy @tu_muenchen and worked as an #AndroidDev at #QuickbirdStudios.
