@codepo8 "we lose money on each user, but we make it up in... ?"
And that's after externalizing so much of the cost.
Tomorrow is Plant a Tree in your Neighbors Backyard Day!
In this case, a nice 5 ft tall mandarin to make up for a tree we killed, meticulously, purposefully.
No tears, please. It was an ailanthus altissima, with the very misleading common name "tree of heaven". Native to Asia, it is invasive af around here, with runners easily out to 50 feet that will find any spot with good soil. An absentee landlord next door did not help.
So we did a trade, .
In North America, invasive English ivy is ecologically awful for many reasons and I hate it. But the tangle of stems also makes it dangerous for arborists when they need to climb trees. This pic is from Friday when my neighbor had a tree taken down. Everything went fine but you could tell the guy was being extra careful when he repositioned his spurs. #EnglishIvy #hedera #ivy #trees #arborist #invasive #vines #chainsaw
They hijacked the power button!
I tried to turn my #android phone off by holding down the power button and up came "ask Gemini"
The power button is now three menus deep in the settings.

Out-of-control invasive species has met its match: Cute and hungry #otters
#WestCoast states are spending millions to protect their inland #waterways from #invasive #crabs. In some places, otters are just eating them. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2024/12/20/invasive-green-crabs-are-no-match-for-sea-otters/77090472007/?tbref=hp
Rose-ringed parakeets (or Drarra, as I knew them) are pretty and colorful #birds, but they are also a very aggressive #Invasive species. Just to demonstrate how aggressive - they attack (and sometimes kill) rats.

#ArtAdventCalendar day 4 Creeping #Thistle Cirsium arvense is an unwelcome #invasive plant here, causing real problems in some cultivated fields and rendering areas in pastures unpalatable to livestock and wild browsers. #Pollinators and other insects, however have no hesitation in using flowers and foliage; + they can be beautiful with lots of fragrant colourful flowers +- as you see here- seed heads hanging on well into #winter. #Alberta #SolaceInNature #photography

This is what a coconut palm tree damaged by coconut Rhinoceros beetles looks like. Was on the north shore of Oahu a few hours ago & many or even most of the palms there are damaged.
The state is very worried. The beetles are well-established, it appears.
I bought the domain for treeofheavensucks.com bc I'm that much of a hater against this fucked up tree lmao

Sometimes stiltgrass seems impossible to control. It is an invasive species and chokes out native shade loving smaller plants. (Pic1)
But if you look closer, you can see a lot of good species too. And in just five minutes a large dent is made and the good shines more. (Pic2)
On smaller local scale, the stiltgrass is trying to take over, but may not be quite as thick. (Pic3).
Five minutes there and it is all gone (Pic4). Maybe not perfectly gone as some of the tiny bits are harder to pull but it is 98% better.
And every single bit of stiltgrass pulled is 30 new seeds not sewn, 30 new sprouts stopped. In just 5-10 years from now effort can easily pay off further as the seed bank will be depleted with the consistent work now.
…I may or may not be talking about stiltgrass.
Remember this.
