Finally trying out Purelymail.
Love how easy it was to add to elementary OS.
Need to figure out how the CalDAV works... it's not working properly.
Looking forward to having one in my hands #Linux #StarLite # StarLabs #elementaryOS

I finally upgraded from #elementaryOS 7 to 8. I am not happy, because the #Nextcloud SyncClient is unusable. I can set it up, but there is no way to open its settings afterwards or see what it’s doing.
Switched back to a “Chaotic Neutral” monitor layout having been “Neutral Good” since having the two QHD monitors. There’s something about #elementaryOS (https://markjones.cloud/tag/elementaryos/) that feels better when the primary display is centred. Plus having the second monitor as portrait lends it’s self perfectly for web development
Shucks, back to X11 we go. Unfortunately KDE Connect isn’t able to send the clipboard on Wayland. Also non GTK app window frames are not themed according to elementary stylesheet. Good progress being made with Wayland tho
@argv_minus_one i ended up with an older one that, running MacOS, was shit-slow but it runs ElementaryOS just fine and gave the thing new life and new civilizations.
And @danirabbit would like it.
Looks like ElementaryOS is grumpy about a couple of hardwares... it won't run the installer on the old 2008 MacBook Pro that has run everything I ever threw at it, and while it installs on the early 2015 MacBook Pro, it seems unable to speak bluetooth at all.
Oh, well. Runs fine on the dawlg-slow Mac Mini, so it gets to stay.
What's the best #Linux distro/spin for someone who is coming from Windows 11 or Windows 10, aside from #LinuxMint?
Recupero este toot a ver si hay suerte y alguien me comenta sobre #elementaryOs o #Zorin o alguna distro de Linux molona que te entre por los ojos y te enamore por su funcionamiento
I have been using elementary OS for two weeks now and am very happy with it. Not only is it functional, it’s also fun to use. The only inconvenience is the lack of thumbnails for WebP files, which I use quite often. This feature has already been requested (four years ago), it doesn’t seem to be that easy.
I have recently switched from using #Ubuntu 24.04 to #elementaryOS 8. I love the desktop and I believe this is the distro to break my habit of distro-hopping
I’ve been holding off using the Wayland session on elementary OS because my favourite colour picking app called Picker wouldn’t work. Just discovered that this has been forked to a new app called Cherrypick which has the XDG thingy to make it work on Wayland, so hurrah for that
NB: I have not actually sent that draft yet, but you get the idea I am not patient with shit I paid for that doesn't work.
Reminds me, I will go back and pay ElementaryOS. That stuff does work.
I have a dual-boot setup with Debian and Elementary on my laptop, because Elementary was my very first Linux distro, so it’s got a place in my heart.
Anyway, here are some shirts I own, along with two logos and a tux I made at work using the Plasma CNC!
Well, ElementaryOS works... in a VM. With Mastodon.
Admittedly this hardware is not the intended target. Real target is the shit-slow mac mini that is largely unused once I got the much-faster Mini. Project for another day. Ideally Elementary will make it tolerable to use.
