@hellomiakoda granted, #Snap is a "good idea, but horribly executed" and @ubuntu trying to hamfist it down peoples' throats.and being anti-#Flatpak didn't sit well for all the right reasons!
- The sad part is that there's not.much of a competition for #Enterprise users with the #UbuntuLTS, #SLES / #SLED & #RHEL tripol!

#Canonical giving away @ubuntu / #Ubuntu for free to users is fine because big corporations will license #Landscape amd buy into other services. The few businesses that don't need that ain't worth pursuing for license fees becaise it doesn't justify the cost of doing so.
Same with @opensuse / #OpenSUSE: Big corporate users want #SLES & #SLED.
Even #Oracle understands that with #OracleLinux. Only #RedHat seem to have forgotten that when they killed #CentOS!
The old man's firewood sled. Someone built it from two ancient wooden skis and a wooden crate nailed on top. A stick joins them at the front with some string for pulling.
Recycled this today as we have no use for it and it was falling apart.
There's another pair of those wooden skis in the barn, in better condition. They look hand made.

- In an ideal world, stuff would be portable enough that the underlying
init(andUserlandin general) as well as Kernel didn't matter and merely be a different config file.
In reality, a substantial part of #Gnome devs (or at least contributors) are paid by the 3 major #Linux distros (#RHEL, #SLED, #Ubuntu) and whilst not being antragonistic towards #BSD|s don't get employed to enshure it runs on #FreeBSD, but that it runs better on the distro their employer is selling…
- And given that these projects don't have infinite resources and espechally maintainers I don't blame them to redelegate a lot of work to #SystemD instead of reimplementing something themselves.
OFC it's saddening in regards to non-Linux #Unix-esque OSes, but given self-amplifying network effects both the murder of #OpenSolaris at the hands of #Oracle (with @EUCommission and #FTC as enablers!) and @iXsystems ditching #FreeBSD in #trueNAS alongside regressing #driver support for hardware outside of Linux, #macOS and #Windows, it's not a good time for these projects.
- Which is bad because BSDs and other OSes force Linux to innovate and '
get gud'!

So yeah, I've deal with #bash simply because it's the only #shell I can reliably expect on any relevant #Linux distro I'm working on (aka. #Ubuntu LTS, #SLES / #SLED, #RHEL, #Debian) ...

Und dann ist da noch das Schlitten fahren. Der "echte" Schlittenhundesport. Mit Schnee und Kufen unter den Füßen. Der leise, stille Sport - zumindest, wenn die Hunde mal laufen. Nur das Atmen der Hunde und die Geräusche, die der Schlitten macht, wenn er durch den Schnee gezogen wird. Das ist eindrucksvoll und wundervoll. Das Foto entstand 2021 im Februar. Und zwar in Brandenburg. Bei mir um die Ecke. Da hatten wir so viel Schnee, dass eine Freundin mit ihren Huskys aus der Nähe von Hamburg angereist kam, um bei uns Schlitten zu fahren. Das war wirklich einmalig. Ein Jahr zuvor waren wir gemeinsam in Schwedich Lappland, ebenfalls um Schlitten zu fahren. Auf dem Foto seht ihr meine beiden Hunde, Mette und Bounty, im Lead (ganz vorn) und einen Hund meiner Freundin, Yukon, im Wheel.

Just the breathing of the dogs and the sounds the sled makes as it is pulled through the snow. It's impressive and wonderful. The photo was taken in February 2021. In Brandenburg. Just round the corner from where I live. We had a lot of snow so that a friend came from near Hamburg with her huskies to go sledging with us. That was really unique. A year earlier, we had travelled to Swedish Lapland together, also to go sledding. In the photo you can see my two dogs, Mette and Bounty, in the lead (at the front) and one of my friend's dogs, Yukon, in the wheel.
