Switching from #Reddit to #Lemmy is a process but this process is made possible by a paramount app called „#Voyager for Lemmy“ - what a great piece of cross-platform software made possible by @alex.

I tried to switch to lemmy but get the warning "This app is closed-source and can possible collect your data"." Use it at your own risk" .
What does that mean?
I totally missed my #CakeDay! (June 10.)
It’s been a whole year since I did the #RedditMigration and joined the #Fediverse!
Do I miss #Reddit? Nope.
#Mastodon definitely seems a lot quieter, but I think that’s due to people treating it like #blogging rather than a discussion board. Which duh, that’s putting the blogging in micro-blogging.
But that’s one of the reasons why I chose Mastodon as my #RedditAlternative, because it’s a totally different experience and I wanted something with totally different vibes. I never got into #Twitter, so Mastodon was a total breath of fresh air.
So Mastodon is my foot in the door and I look forward to gradually continue exploring the Fediverse and what it has to offer.
Have a good day and I’ll see you around!
A year seems overdue for an #introduction .I'm from the #midwest #USA and joined with the #redditmigration wave. I'm a proud husband, parent, software engineer, utility cyclist, and much more.
I post and boost about #pkm (#logseq but also #orgmode), #emacs, #bike s, #safetyrazor s, #life, #urbanism, #NewLiberal / #neoliberal ism (as per https://cnliberalism.org/overview ), #uspol, #programming, #dadjokes, and more. I also play a lot of #tradle and #rogule. Most apps can filter what you don't want to see.

Step 3 of my evil plan regarding #fediverser and the #redditmigration has been executed. Anyone with a reddit account can go to https://portal.alien.top to claim their account at the alien.top #lemmy instance, and when they do so it gives you a list of your current reddit subscriptions and recommends the corresponding lemmy community.
Now, on to build and extend the lemmy communities so that we have more recommendations to make.
Recommended follow list for Ukraine war on Mastodon
Here are my recommendations for coverage of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Only accounts active recently and you can easily import them from a file. They are split into two different lists by type.
1. Ukraine: OSINT & war updates
This list mostly has accounts posting quickly about daily events of the war and doing open source intelligence.
Accounts in this list:
@warnoir
@noelreports
@warmapper
@Tendar
@militarylandnet
@chrisschmitz
@militarnyi
@Landcombatmissiles
@Gettyregion
2. Ukraine: Analysis & coverage
This list is accounts focused more on in-depth analysis, information about what is happening in the background, followup stories etc.
Accounts in this list:
@Odrachewych
@markhertling
@justinling
@WarInTheFuture
@joannekelly
@rikefranke
@EmmanuelleChaze
@aliide
@anneapplebaum
@giocomai
@PopovaProf
@OlyaOliker
@EugeneMcParland
@ChrisO_wiki
@AlexSpal
@markmackinnon
@timkmak
@jpaulgoode
@ScottLucas
@tonimichel_
@ManyRoads
@AndersGottlieb
@kevinrothrock
@MAKS23
Download the file here if you want to import: https://ipfs.io/ipfs/QmVkBo17Jko4sozHoMzQU6raR4D1KCKomEZJ6QZChVJeLA?filename=ukraine_lists.csv
The import file relies on the List import feature recently added to Mastodon. I have noticed the list import results in a few accounts sometimes ending up in their separate list by the same name so you may have to fix that manually afterwards if this happens on your instance. If many people are on an older Mastodon version and want it I can also post a follows file that will work for those.
Import instructions:
1. Sign into your instance on the web
2. go to settings (Gear icon)
3. Choose Import and Export -> Import
4. For import type choose "Lists" (could also be "Translation missing: en.imports.types.lists" if there is an issue with the localization).
5. Select "merge" to only add to your current follows/lists so nothing you have gets deleted
6. Browse for CSV file and start import
I would also suggest following the hashtags #Ukraine and #UkraineWar
Crossposted to @ukraine on Lemmy which you can also follow through Mastodon

January 6th defendants moderating political forums?
One of the platforms hoping to grow off of the Reddit migration is Squabbles.co.
Members used to laugh at how others called it a "toxically positive" place. Friendly conversations, hard to start a fight.
That recently changed with the developer JayCLees removing TOS rules protecting trans members from abuse & disinformation AND making a public announcement that Squabblr.co was now a "free speech site".
About a week before that the conflict with JayCLees and the users started when he refused to do anything about user amightybeard, the moderator of the discussion group "conservative".
A user did a web search on the username "amightybeard" and posted what he found:
Highlights include:
1. amightybeard possibly being a January 6th defendant
2. amightybeard being a member of several hard right wing discussion sites
3. amightybeard being a rabid antivaxer
4. amightybeard being a rabid homophobe

To be clear
* the link above is not mine
* I make no claims about the veracity of what is stated on it.
* I don't believe reading highway billboards is "doxing". It is publicly visible information. The author searched on a username and reported what he found to be publicly displayed

I actually did go to #reddit last week, if only to take part in the #joinlemmy and #fuckspez things around the board.
And then I made stickers about it.
You can check them out at the link below!
I wonder how many adolescent comments on Mastodon originated on Lemmy or Kbin.
When I first joined Mastodon I noticed an older, a more international, and more diverse demographic than what I experienced elsewhere.
That still seems to be the 98% majority on Mastodon, which makes the strongly adolescent comment I come across occasionally really stand out.
For people like me who used #Reddit through an app (Apollo in my case) and are looking to replace it with a #Fediverse alternative, things are looking up. Lemmy and Kbin are seeing explosive growth. Although you can follow these from Mastodon, you’ll need to create an account on a Lemmy/Kbin server to get the proper Reddit experience.
I’ve found an app for Lemmy called “Memmy for Lemmy” which is pretty nice. It all works pretty smoothly, recommended.
I just want to say for my first post to the #Fediverse that I've already seen more #alttext in the last couple of days than I've literally seen in my entire life. I don't know what it is, but as a blind user it's making me emotional to be able to actually interact with content. Think I'll write an introduction soon.
#accessibility #Mastodon #redditMigration
I moved from #reddit over to #lemmy last week... Much like I said here when I first got this account... it very much feels like the early internet.
Know what else it made me realize?
Redditors are fucking ASSHOLES.
I think I shall stay here and Lemmy, where true conversations can be had as opposed to snarky responses to... literally everything... for no good goddamn reason.
Remember FediFriends :
Mastodon instances admins are going through a very challenging time right now.
They have difficult, often heartbreaking, decisions to make
They have a lot of changes to managed
They have large influx in traffic to deal with
And they have to deal with all of our comments and strong opinions about this
Be Kind with instance administrators and moderation teams. Even when you do not agree with their choices. You can state your opinion, but always remain polite and empathetic.
This is volunteer work!
They all deserve our kindness
Was there a subreddit you loved that you want to find on the #fediverse? Check out this directory:
Well, hello! Looks like I ought to do an #introduction here.
Hi! I'm Adam. I recently drifted into the Fediverse with the Great #RedditMigration of July 2023. I've already dabbled with Mastodon and kBin. Now I'm dipping my toes into Calkey.
I'm originally from #Iowa but live in #Wisconsin now. Like, far #northernwisconsin.
My wife and I have a tiny farm where we have a small #garden and are mob-ruled by our flock of #chickens, #ducks, and #geese. We've also employed the help of the tiniest herd of tiny Nigerian Dwarf #goats to help us fight back some of the invasive honeysuckle and buckthorn that seems to have taken over our little homestead.
We also have two #cats, two #dogs, and a very independent, "wild" #rabbit that my wife actually rescued from a food bank garden.
My interests include, but are not limited to;
• Current events/politics
• Culture/history/language
• Food
A list of former #Reddit subs that are now in tge #Fediverse. You can add to the list too, I believe.
