Finnish public #debt 1980 to 2025

Kokoomus is the center-right neoliberal party, who always put on #austerity and say they’re doing it to ”get rid of the problem of debt”

I bet this story is the same everywhere else: If you look at what they did when they were in power, they almost single-handedly created the problem to begin with.

The most fluent liars of them all are the smiley-faced center #neoliberal #right. 👿

"You'll own nothing and like it", #tech people have said for decades.

It's only when the #neoliberal parties of the world realized that #LineGoUp would jux the numbers to show "growth" that we see companies become even more emboldened.

#TheAmericanFascist uttered this morning.

“I’m proud to be the President for the workers, not the outsourcers; the President who stands up for Main Street, not Wall Street; who protects the middle class, not the political class; and who defends America, not trade cheaters all over the globe.”

The left wing social democratic forces of the world (including the #Liberals and #NDP in Canada) have been so neutered and brow beaten into incrementalism and neo-Liberal corporate capture, that a right wing, billionaire-wannabe, near-Nazi fascist, and politicians who want to be like him (Pierre Poillievre) have stolen the rallying cries of working men and women (but mostly men).

These were the warnings working people and socialist forces screamed when Free Trade and privatization was born by Reagan and Mulroney, Thatcher and Chirac. The de-unionization of western economies, the decimation of public infrastructure for private “partnerships”…

Now here we are, it all got so bad that the regular person, struggling to put inflated food on the table, or put their children through inflated college, are so fed up that they submit to the regressive, racist, anti-human, bloviations of populist tyrants.

A pox on you, “Liberals” and “Democrats” of the world.

You chose corporations while you placated people with false promises and false hopes.

You enabled the worst of the human condition through complacency and greed.

Your limp, unconvincing defence of Liberalism and Democratic values destroyed both.

What will you do to win back the podium to speak for working people? Perhaps you don’t deserve to.

I admit it... I was trying to find a video that confirmed my bias and I finally did it!!. I don't know you, but I feed off those stupid self centered neoliberal quotes like " my needs come first" or " I don't owe anyone anything"...etc. And the idea of someone thinking they are empowering themselves while actually being selfish as fuck. This is gold guys, a fresh air in a polluted virtual (and real life) atmosphere of hyper-individualism

1) Dismantle neoliberal ideology. The author proposes that something more humane ought to replace the neoliberal ideals that have taken hold in society. She sees an important role here for politicians, educators, and artists to push back on outdated ideas.

@davidho.bsky.social In case anyone was in doubt about how sociopathic Wall Street bankers are.

Global warming is happening, they say, so invest now in air conditioning stocks!

"The big banks’ acknowledgment that the world is likely to fail at preventing warming of more than 2 degrees Celsius above preindustrial levels is spelled out in obscure reports for clients, investors and trade association members. Most were published after the reelection of President Donald Trump, who is seeking to repeal federal policies that support clean energy while turbocharging the production of oil, gas and coal — the main sources of global warming.

"Morgan Stanley’s climate forecast was tucked into a mundane research report on the future of air conditioning stocks, which it provided to clients on March 17. A 3 degree warming scenario, the analysts determined, could more than double the growth rate of the $235 billion cooling market every year, from 3 percent to 7 percent until 2030."

Struggling for a Real Alternative

For the last 5 years conversations have been about, the #Fediverse, #Web3 and more recently the pushing of #mainstreaming into the #openweb native path. But despite this, the #fediverse is still a notable outlier in the digital landscape. This is in part because unlike the dominant tech trends, which emerge from Silicon Valley and the cross-Atlantic #dotcons agenda, the #fediverse is rooted in European ideals of decentralization, federation, and digital autonomy, it's a "native" #openweb […]

The #GeekProblem: Why Open Development Is Stuck in a Dead End

It’s no sin to have to submit to the #dotcons overlords—we all do it, whether we like it or not. Just recently, I found myself installing that vile spyware known as #WeChat because this was the only way to talk to the people I needed to talk to. That bitter swipe to hide the app from view brought a momentary sense of agency, but the reality remains: we are still too often failing at building out the #openweb that normal people find useful

The fundamental question is: why? It's too […]
