@kajer I missed your post on this a few days ago -- this is excellent, some great ideas! I have two bathroom exhaust fans on mechanical rotary-dial wall-switch timers (like this one amazon.com/Intermatic-IW700K-2), which turn them on for 15-20 min intervals a few times a day, but would love a system that responds to ambient CO2 levels. What fan controllers do you use? I haven't set up Home Assistant yet (on my summer project list, which is long enough), but it looks like my ol' Aranet4 sensor will integrate, although it doesn't sense particulates.

Result of my comparison of the AM312 and HC-SR501 sensors.

The HC-SR501 triggers detection much faster, with a release time of 1.1 seconds compared to 2.5 for the AM312. This speed would be ideal for my needs…

However, the HC-SR501 has many false negatives, making it unsuitable. It looks like the HC-SR501 has an issue with the Wi-Fi. During my test, the sensor was 20 cm away from the ESP32.

I would recommend the AM312 instead.

My laser saver for yesterday, May 4. :-)

Building an ESPHome multi-sensor: Bluetooth proxy (mainly for Bermuda BLE trilateration), temperature, humidity, and motion sensors.. I used an D1 Mini ESP32 AM313 + BME280. Currently testing the HC-SR501. It is larger, but the sensitivity and delay time can be adjusted.

I currently use #sensibo air sensors to control the #airconditioning in our bungalows.
However, I would like to use something local that does not need a #cloud #subscription to operate. I have already set up a #homeassistant on a Raspberry Pi 4.
Can anyone recommend some sensors that can be used locally and interact directly with Home Assistant without using the cloud?
I need to sense #humidity and #temperature and be able to control the air conditioners.

My automations are configured using the new Apple Watch sensor Bermuda BLE trilateration.

- Open Infuse on the AppleTV when I sit on the sofa in front of the TV
- Open Fitness+ on the AppleTV when the mat moves and I'm in front of the TV
- Turn off the AppleTV when the mat moves after more than 10 min of fitness and I'm not in front of the TV

Of course, this is zero cloud dependent
Warning: NodeRED is highly addictive!

Fun! M5Stack Atom now set up behind the TV in our bedroom (outside the ensuite) and the little LED on it should pulse red if the plant needs watering, then turn green for a minute and then go off when all is ok. No doubt I’ll need to tweak the automation in home assistant but we’ll see how it goes!
