nhgeek<p>Home Assistant is quite the rabbit hole. I recently embarked on a project to improve the standard Mold Sensor integration. That led me to build a custom D1 mini-based temp/humidity and surface temperature sensor. That last sensor is intended for the home water supply pipe. That can be around 11 - 13 C when water is flowing (the coldest available surface). Dew point is a simple calculation and then we are off to the races. All that's left to do is build the case. <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/esphome" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>esphome</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/homeassistant" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>homeassistant</span></a></p>

Wolkensteine<p><a href="https://mastodon.wolkenheim.eu/tags/HomeAssistant" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>HomeAssistant</span></a> is ending its support for the Supervised installation I was running the last years (On a <a href="https://mastodon.wolkenheim.eu/tags/Debian" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Debian</span></a> 12, just like recommended). I have now finally fully transitioned to a fully dockerised installation, now managing things like <a href="https://mastodon.wolkenheim.eu/tags/ESPHome" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ESPHome</span></a> myself. Still, it was pretty annoying switching, since the backup restore function in the <a href="https://mastodon.wolkenheim.eu/tags/docker" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>docker</span></a> version of HomeAssistant didn't want to take the folders from the backup image. Like this, I had to manually bring them into the docker container. <br>But I am happy. It works now 🎉 </p><p><a href="https://mastodon.wolkenheim.eu/tags/homelab" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>homelab</span></a></p>

I'm doing the weekly home IT update chore this morning. I wasn't home last week, so there's a lot.

- OPNsense minor upgrade (save 25.7 for next week)
- New firmware for two Omada access points
- PI-Hole 25.7
- Home Assistant Core and ESPHome Builder
- Karakeep 0.26.0

Then I'm going to take the first steps in the TrueNAS Core -> Scale migration. That'll go on for days if not weeks.

Yesterday I noticed that the pool pump wasn't running. I checked the power consumption logs and found it hasn't been running for a few days. This is very bad! High risk of soup pool.

After fixing the issue with the pump, I set up an automation in #homeassistant : At 09:30 every day, check the power consumption of the pump. Send an alert to my phone if it's less than 1.5kW.

All thanks to #foss!

Gonna re-post my guide for anyone with a Mitsubishi Electric split-system Air con from the last 10ish years, on how to integrate it with Home Assistant/ESPHome for $20 with one extremely easy, reversible, safe hardware addition!
I've been running it without issue for 9 months now, and others have successfully followed my process.

I've used the integration to do stuff like automatically turn off the aircon an hour after I go to sleep, and put an automation so if we leave the house, it'll turn the aircon off in case we forgot. I also built an automation to run it in fan only mode on low for 15 minutes after being on cooling, to evaporate the moisture inside that otherwise leaves to building up mould.

Hello #homeassistant geeks (more specifically #esphome geeks). I'm facing something new: I need to control some appliances (4 motors and 1 light) with Home Assistant. I was povided with a couple of pricey RF 433mhz remotes that I really don't want to disassemble (so I cannot just solder some bodge wires to the keys pads and connect them to an #ESP8266 ). I need something that can receive, copy and re-send the signals mimiking the original remotes. I don't know anything about RF, don't own an SDR and don't know if the remotes use some kind of rolling code. I've seen there is some support on ESPHome for 433mhz transmitters (https://esphome.io/components/remote_transmitter.html) but it's unclear to me with what hardware.
Anyone can point me in the right direction?

Today I was able to play around with @esphome@fosstodon.org and #HomeAssistant

Turns out that outsourcing the voice processing might be a bit slower but it's working great so far.

I will try to switch over to the faster alternatives. But I am quite happy that I managed to get this Esp S3 screen working with cards so the device shows other interesting things while idle.

Btw: "Retro" is one of our lights in the office.

Was für static website generators sind denn gerade hipp, bzw was ist vielleicht in einem Jahr noch nicht legacy 🙄
Oder doch lieber gitlab pages?
Möchte mal meine #HomeAssistant / #esphome Projekte wo zusammenschreiben 🤓
Bei esphome macht es wohl Sinn den code und docs in ein Repo zu werfen.
