Finally installed the reolink doorbell cam in place of the nest one we had. Now with 100% less cloud!

Notifications are through homeassistant, event recording through Zoneminder - for now at least, I may switch to Frigate, but we're starting with this.

The camera itself has no cloud accounts or connections at all.

this has been on my to-do list for a while, but today it was warm enough that it wasn't unpleasant sitting on the porch to install it.

Keep Your Security Feeds Local: Reolink Partners With Home Assistant
allthethings.best/keep-your-se
Reolink has announced a new partnership with Home Assistant, a popular automation platform for smart homes. This partnership allows most Reolink cameras, except for the 4G models, to work directly with Home Assistant.

I've created two projects related to #Remeha boilers/heatpumps:

An #ESPhome component that allows you to read data off the CAN bus from modern Remeha boilers (and possibly from related brands, like #Baxi and De #Dietrich): github.com/robertklep/esphome-

And a #Python script/lib to parse the aforementioned CAN data: github.com/robertklep/remeha-c

The goal is to eventually create an ESPhome component that allows you to read and control your Remeha boiler fully locally.

Good day for solar power yesterday, this is the highest I think that I’ve seen in the little over a year we've had it. The blue lines are charging the plug-in hybrid, other big use was drying clothes and hot water, which I need to turn off, since Sun made plenty.

Did some "vibe coding" this weekend and again today after work to see what the cool kids are doing.

I expected to be disappointed, but it works surprisingly well for simple things!

First experiment was updating a #homeassistant integration I maintain, second was writing an increasingly complex #linux fan control daemon in #rustlang . Tried a few different tools and models, but ended up sticking with #gemini 2.5 and the coding assistant.

I understand why the kids like this.

In the past few days, I’ve been doing a major restructuring of my #homelab , new LXCs and VMs, documenting all the images used, starting to use NFS instead of Samba.
In some applications, I started from scratch, in others, I imported data from the old machines, and so far, everything has been running smoothly.
But there are two old VMs I don’t dare touch, #HomeAssistant and #OpenMediaVault .
I’m dumb and very afraid of messing things up big time, if it works, don't touch it!
