Ich habe herausgefunden, dass sich die #UUID / #GUID eines #USB Sticks verändert, wenn ein Adapter oder Hub genutzt wird. Ich möchte den Stick für #Unraid tauschen, die Lizenz hängt an der GUID.
Mein Mac Mini M4 erkennt den Stick jedes Mal anders, je nach USB-A auf USB-C Adapter oder USB-A auf USB-C Hub.
Ich war bisher der Meinung, die UUID ist fix (der Unraid Support aber auch)

@gangrif @almalinux I ran #RHEL 9 that way for several years before switching to #unraid. I’d love to go back to #ansible running everything. But there’s something tempting about a full blown hypervisor under the hood that appeals to me.

Angenommen ich möchte einer Person auf Basis eines alten Thin-Clients ein kleines #NAS mit USB-Platten (ja, ich weiß, nicht ideal, nervt nicht) hinstellen, das im besten Fall noch Anwendungen via Docker betreiben kann. Die Person aber hat wenig Lust, sich damit (intensiv) befassen zu müssen. Im Idealfall läuft das Teil einfach und Updates/Upgrades des Systems lassen sich möglichst einfach einspielen. Mensch hat Linux-Erfahrung, administriert aber nix.
Was für ein OS nehme ich da? #OpenMediaVault? #TrueNAS? Was anderes? 
#Unraid fällt eher raus, weil das Preismodell von denen insane ist.
Ein wenig stresst mich der aktuelle Zustand des Systems. Gitlab belegt 18 Gigabyte RAM, ein Minecraft Server 9,2 Gigabyte, den Rest teilen sich etwa 20 weitere Docker Container.
Eine präzisere Überwachung und eine Reduktion des Verbrauchs wären sinnvoll, doch dafür fehlt mir aktuell die Zeit.

Hey folks, my cranky old #Synology #NAS is getting full and I'm thinking about upgrades. I don't think I want to buy another commercial NAS and I have an AM5 motherboard doing literally nothing. Sny opinions on #unraid vs #truenas ? (I mostly use for #plex streaming and local backups) but may consider moving my #HomeAssistant install to the box too in the future). #homelab
I plugged in the old USB stick I used for Synology and it booted that fine, so that tells me it’s the Unraid USB stick that’s the problem.
I backed up the config files and recreated the Unraid stick, same error. So something weird has happened to the physical USB stick somehow, I guess. It mounts fine on my Mac and my work Windows laptop so god knows what the problem is.
I’ve wiped the Synology stick and installed Unraid on that and it boots but it’s only 1GB (they recommend 4GB) and it’s SOOO SLOW. Have an old 16GB stick here, I’ll try that.
Boot loop with “non-system disk or disk error.”
I guess that means the flash drive that boots #Unraid is bollocksed. I don’t remember the last time I took a backup, but it wasn’t recently. 
I *think* even with a fresh install I can just add the drives from the array back in and set up the shares again and everything should work. Fingers crossed!
EDIT: I just need the config folder from the USB stick, so I backed that up to my computer.
Hello all, I'm a #technologist in #NorthCarolina. I am #retired from a career in #IT but, I still do some side work from time-to-time. I have always been a huge fan of #FOSS and run several #Linux machines including my #HomeLab media server running #Unraid. I prefer my TVs dumb with a #MiniPC or #SBC attached running #Kodi (#LibreELEC).
