Pretty rare to be able to score a first track in powder, especially at the end of April but managed to do so today! #snowboarding

April has begun. I completely missed my last post-window. I do try to post monthly here. No one cares, because no one reads them, but I feel some discipline is worthwhile. February was my snowboarding trip to Japan for 10 days, my first trip outside of China since the onset of the COVID period back in 2019. The trip was good, and you can watch my short video from snowboarding in Furano, here : https://youtu.be/l2q2nycFjpc

A few mountain scenes explored recently around Alpental, WA. Been trying to find more about the geology of this area, I heard a while back these peaks were once the top of a massive volcano mountain that sank becoming very steep and wild low elevation terrain. Washington apparently had 25 super volcanos that have come and gone but identifying the details has been challenging. I have been trying to find some good geology resources for Washington if you happen to know of any?
I found this really cool rock today! Took a good moment to try to capture it in a photo. Mountains filling in some of the best snow conditions we've seen all year with more snow on the way!

After traversing through the woods, I found these strange indentations in the snow. Faced with some challenges navigating the steep terrain, I opted to go left and thats when... I found a frozen Sasquatch!
You never know what you might find in the mountains!?
A couple of turns from a moment last year riding up a chairlift. Light felt all myst like with the fog fading through the sky. Shout out to the old game Myst.

Spent last week in the alpine during that arctic cold snap. Nights got down to -21f/-29c but days warmed up to 15f/-9c which is pretty cold for me. Low temps, low crowds, on clear sunny days after fresh snow creates happy days snowboarding!
Not much quite resets your soul like spending a little time with friends in the mountains. Fresh cold powder blessed us this day. Happy #MountainMonday

@coloradosun I love the Winter Park rail enough to support replacing the express lanes on I-70 with train tracks all the way to Glenwood Springs, and then around the bend along route 82 to Aspen with stops in every notable town all along the way.
The only thing that will fix I-70 traffic is a train. I hate driving that dangerous road when other people have no idea how to drive through mountains, let alone through snow
