I am working on a decentralized, peer-to-peer, encrypted #chat written in #Python: https://github.com/FluxChat/fluxchat-py
It uses the #Kademlia algorithm to create an #overlay network. You can even use your existing GPG/PGP keys to join. I am looking forward to adding a #GUI, because currently it only has a #terminal interface and HTTP #API. And also to write the client/server part in #Zig. #E2E #P2P #TLS #decentralized #Decentralization #endtoend #TUI #DHT
2025 marks the year in which officials start to understand the importance of #encryption!
Following the example of CISA, the Swedish Armed Forces have issued a new directive “FM2025-61:1” requiring the use of the #Signal app for calls and messages whenever possible
The decision underscores the increasing need for end-to-end #e2e encryption in the face of growing cyber threats and state-level surveillance

Hope they remeber to donate to Signal
So Apple caved and is lowering the protection of it's UK users and maybe more , who knows. So please let's forget about all the myths that Apple is so secure, thinks privacy is important and other blablabla.

Therapists of the fediverse: how do you communicate safely with clients or other professionals privacy-wise?
How do you organise this communication in a way so that no-one - including police - can steal it?
Are you using encrypted computers and #email or #messengers with #e2e #encryption? - If so, what messengers or method are you using?
Are you storing documents in a safe? If so, where and what brand?
What is feasible, what is practical?
Update:
Proton removed their response (link below) from Mastodon, seems they realized it exploded into their face.
Update 2, Reddit post from Andy Yen today: https://www.reddit.com/r/ProtonMail/comments/1i2nz9v/on_politics_and_proton_a_message_from_andy/?rdt=42738 (text in responses below)
Original toot:
After I had given #Protonmail the benefit of the doubt for one board member making inconsiderate and alarming statements on #MAGA #Trump, they have doubled down officially:
https://mastodon.social/@protonprivacy/113833073219145503
I therefore consider this official opinion of Proton. Focussing on one aspect and completely ignoring the bigger picture of a luming fascist period in the most militarized economy of the world is just inacceptable. Proton just could have kept their mouth shut, but they decided not to.
Thanks for revealing yourselves and happy to end my subscription, I won't support a company like you until you do better @protonprivacy
Please boost to spread this news if you find this important.
The short version, don't trust current telecommunications networks for anything, use end2end encrypted applications where possible.

The #SessionMessenger app flees Australia for Switzerland after a visit by Aussie law enforcement.
Great app - you don't need to give it a phone number. (Actually you no longer need to give #Signal a phone # either.)

I can only add #messaging for which there is #Signal #encryption as #PGP alternative, and #email which cannot be truly #e2e encrypted.
Which other domains are there for which PGP is used for encryption and there are no suitable replacements?
I understand that use of PGP implementations is still widespread, and replacing them will take developer effort and time. But I think the alternatives are available for all use cases.
