The Academy Award-winning British filmmaker behind "12 Years a Slave" and "Shame" has announced he will no longer attend the opening night screening of his new film, "Blitz," at Camerimage Film Festival in Poland over comments festival director Marek Zydowicz made about women cinematographers. “Although he has issued an apology, I cannot get past what I consider deeply offensive words. I have enormous respect for cinematographers of all genders including women, and believe we have to do and demand better to make room for everyone at the table,” McQueen told @Variety. Zydowicz appeared to suggest in a column published in Cinematography World magazine that greater representation of women in Camerimage's selection could lead to the inclusion of "mediocre film productions." Was für ein #Ärgernis: Das #ZDF hat gerade den #Film #Papillon in der Mediathek und ich wollte ihn mir endlich mal ansehen, weil meine Mutter den toll fand. Vor allem stand sie auf #SteveMcQueen in der Hauptrolle.
