"because female-looking nipples are sexually explicit nudity but male-looking nipples aren't!"

"says who?"

".... Men!"

*gestures "there you go"*

"wElL aCtUaLlY, the ones who complain about women going topless in public are other women!"

1. This is not true. Look at the genders of most of the repliers on any social media post about #freeTheNipple

2. Even if it was, the presence of internalized #misogyny does not disprove #patriarchy.

3. Even if women were the ones to complain the loudest about other women going topless in public, men are the ones deciding on the legislation and censorship policies that categorize "female nipples" as "sexually explicit nudity" but not "male nipples".

Seriously though, photos and videos of men flexing their exposed pectoral muscles online and in public on a hot day or around a body of water are a dime a dozen. You know what really sticks out? Not wearing a shirt except for covering just your areolas, the same exact ones that women have but are forced to cover up in any situation that doesn't condone full body nudity. THAT'S what gets people's attention and makes them stop for a second to think how insanely sexist and misogynistic gender-based censorship is.

I wondered if "Free The Nipple", the activism to allow people to be topless in public no matter if their chest is seen as "male" or "female" does still really exist.

In Germany we had a time where some people fought for allowing that in public pools.
Partially had some progress, but after that I never heard about that again. But maybe because German laws on it aren't thaaaat harsh.

Or did they just...win?

But it seems worldwide there are still marches for it, so, that's cool.

i posted this on 28 February—before i kicked off exposur.es—and i stand by what i said! ❤️‍🔥

to me, while the exposur.es project currently exists on Pixelfed, the objective reaches far beyond simply being a corporate-free instagram dupe or any digital technology. i hope to witness it become a force that actively defies & dares the status quo and the reactionary swing.

come join me and let’s create a safe haven for all of us! ✨

psst… @vagina_museum, how about joining me as an admin? 👀

Today in Labor History July 7, 1992: The New York Court of Appeals ruled that women had the same right as men to go topless in public. Currently, only 33 states truly permit women to go topless (gotopless.org/topless-laws), with complete bans still in effect in Utah, Indiana and Tennessee, and ambiguous laws in several other states. “Free the Nipple” is a campaign that challenges the convention that only men are allowed to be topless in public, while it is considered indecent for women to do the same. The campaign was started by filmmaker Lina Esco, who created a documentary of herself walking through New York City topless in 2012. While it is currently legal for anyone to go topless in Washington, D.C., it is apparently considered disrespectful to flash your nipples at President Biden, at least if you’re nonbinary. Perhaps he would have sniffed her hair if she was still a teenager,?

Just a lil reminder that my feminism-and-other-progressive-activism video series Topless Topics is "constantly banned from every platform you've heard of and some you haven't,"

so if you'd like to help me try to convince new people (and someday far in the future, the platforms themselves) that enforcing different levels of censorship based on "what gender you look like" is absurd and blatantly sexist,

please consider widely sharing, reblogging, and posting your own reply content (or just shouting out my channel) to my own posts, to help me get out of the shadowban-void I'm constantly fighting against (when my content isn't banned outright, as happens almost daily)

I have to change social media accounts fairly often as they get banned (always and only for the heinous unforgiveable sin of "female nipples") but here they are as of me writing this post:
