I’m probably way behind the pack here, but I’ve heard this song so many times and never knew who recorded it. It’s currently doing the rounds on a TV commercial for BMW here in the UK, but as class songs go, it’s a ten out of ten. You might not know the intro, but you won’t forget the chorus!

Agreed re: the automated slice-n-dice insertion of commercials into programs at arbitrary points. Directors were (maybe still are?) pretty careful about making sure the commercial breaks were timed to narrative breakpoints (well, the reverse, really).

I normally detest 90+% of ads. But I might not actually mind watching them in old shows like this if the commercials were made in a period-appropriate style for the show. Probably an idle fantasy; brands aren't going to make more different ads just for particular ad slots.
