Disclaimer: the following is likely a large pile of steaming donkey doos, insupportable against any even half-arsed academic &/or logical repudiation. It comes from nothing more than my sense of "the vibe" of the world these days.

Disclaimer2: this is general piffle, not piffle specific to BC&tSK.

My ongoing whiny protestations against cultural violence stem, afaict, from my perception that sometime over the past two decades, humans crossed a rubicon wrt societal violence. Ofc for millennia peeps have been arseholes to other peeps IRL, but natch for most of human history there were no mass media means of recording, notating, analysing, disseminating this crap.

Murders have always happened, mindless & minded violence has always been extant, but in the last 20 years of my existence, a change has happened, afaict.

We've seen the rise of public awareness en masse of the calm sane ordinariness of #LGBTQIA lives, the way-belated awareness of female empowerment, equality & equity, Black Lives Matter, et al. These & similar wonderful gains were uplifting.

Yet, seemingly in the blink of an eye, all these overdue advances feel to me under massive attack, due to the rise of vile violent hateful #RWNJs, #ChristoFascists, other #religious nutjobs, horrific #misogynists, #racists, #homophobes & #transphobes, et al. Existence feels completely fraught to me, & it seems like the momentary advent of sunlight in blue sky might have been ephemeral.

Hence, against that background, all the "traditional" cultural mores with which i grew up, not only but certainly not least films & tv shows, feel "different" to me now. All their implicit & explicit oppression, violence, unfairness etc looks & feels very different to me now, compared to when i first experienced. It all upsets me much more, & i feel horrified much of the time, as i am no longer interpreting them thru the Zeitgeist of then, but the Z of now.

Mind you, i concede i'm prolly just a grumpy surly nasty old batshit-crazy hag screaming at passing clouds. As you were, nothing to see here. 🤐

I wasn't going to say anything, but your post has prompted me...
I personally hope to do the opposite. I hope to show transphobes why they are wrong. I believe there is a reason why they are #transphobic, and that someone should deal with that reason.

It's going to take a lot of hard work and patience. But #transphobes are fellow humans, too. Something has led to that #transphobia. Wouldn't it be nice if they understood and overcame their phobia? To have a friend?

I have a theory why #transphobes like #ElonMusk HATE the word "#cisgender" so much.

Because this word implies that there isn't anything truly special or weird about #trans people. It helps to put things into perspective, and normalize trans people a bit.

Accepting the word "#cisgender" implies that trans people have a point (and they do). But if you're a transphobe blinded by hate, you can't have that. Even a simple word would be too much of a concession.

The article sees Doherty use much the same argument in the very #Farage-friendly, racist and fascist-adjacent #Spectator yesterday, also blaming Annhauser-Busch for the #BudLight backlash, as opposed to what really happened, where an online lynch mob of #Transphobes and #MAGA supporters bullied the company into submission in a coordinated hate campaign.
