It is always good to get feedback from our customers:
"We had such a poignant return visit to the tree since it was felled, still such a beautiful and magical place and the day ended with a very special gift from my husband. A piece of your sycamore jewellery I will treasure it always and thank you for making such simple but meaningful pieces of art. xxx"

A British court hands jail sentences to two men who chopped down an iconic tree.

The two men who, in 2023, felled a tree that stood next to the ancient Roman site of Hadrian's Wall for nearly 200 years, were both sentenced to four years and three months in jail.

2 men jailed for 4years & three months for felling the tree at #SycamoreGap along Hadrian’s Wall. They seem to have had no reason for doing this other than missing a few brain cells/being drunk. Probably a reasonable sentence but a sad loss for many.

Even now, I can’t understand why anyone would’ve even contemplated committing such a crime. In an ideal world they’d be forced to spend five years planting trees for the forestry commission when their prison sentence is complete.
(Unpaid community service of course!)

The Artist Formerly Known as Sycamore Gap

The most photographed tree in the British Isles. Probably. As seen in the movie "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves".

The famous tree was illegally felled in September 2023 so this location just won't be the same for another few hundred years.

Prison is for THEIR protection right now....

Get your knickers in a twist over people who deserve it, like those Climate Protesters, don't give me this "poor widdle (white) boys have learned their lesson, don't be mean to them" crap

Do we honestly think they've learned their lesson? Do they seem like the men who do?

The Guardian · Sycamore Gap tree duo do not belong in prisonBy Guardian staff reporter

so many thoughts about the #sycamoreGap that i can't properly transfer them all from brain to words.
as a society, we need to provide comfort & acceptance so that people (mainly men) don't feel the need to lash out at those who are loved & valued.

all i really know is that the tree didn't fucking deserve it &, in a remarkable display of resilience, is beginning to grow again. can we say the same about the men who tried to destroy it?
instead of harsh punitive measures, i'd prescribe:

Pair guilty of cutting down Sycamore Gap tree - BBC News

Two men have been found guilty of the "mindless destruction" of the world famous Sycamore Gap tree, the felling of which sparked international outrage.

The tree had grown in a dip on Hadrian's Wall in Northumberland for more than 100 years before it was cut down in a "moronic mission" in the early hours of 28 September 2023, Newcastle Crown Court heard.

BBC NewsSycamore Gap pair guilty of chopping down tree in NorthumberlandProsecutors say the pair thought it was "a laugh", but the "mindless thuggery" sparked global fury.

Why?

Mindless. Moronic.

And very male.

And please don't try to convince me that males are in crisis and need special attention because our egos are wounded due to women for the first time in history claiming long-denied rights.

You may sell. But I'm not buying.
