Why does the Wikipedia page for Ringing Bell claim that Sanrio co-produced the Ideon movies??? And the Ideon page also lists them as Sanrio productions... why?

Throwback to when the Gundam people wanted to make a joke about James Bond Octopussy in Z Gundam and gave Char Aznable an alias which is, well...
I was looking for Lalah art today and I kept getting jumpscared by the big boobs on that pink-haired girl from Gundam SEED. She's very popular, isn't she? I never watched that show. I don't like the art style.
Anyway, I found this art that I had never seen before. I think Lalah and Rosamia would be good friends.
The Roots of Fandom: Exploring Fanta’s Zine: Samantha Ferreira explores Fanta's Zine, one of the first-ever anime fanzines in North America. She examines the state of fandom of the era and the rise of the C/FO, before delivering a walkthrough of the magazine itself.

I love this Lalah card. Everything about it is perfect. She looks like a knight taking off her helmet.
Gonna be spending the night going through this anime cel collection at Heritage Auctions:
Thunder thigh mechs! Yay!
Watched Power Dolls. I found it on a list of mecha with girl/woman protagonists. It's an OVA with 2 half hour episodes. The first part was good, the second part was confusing and felt like the final episode of a much longer anime.
Tomino describes Lalah as looking like a bodhisattva two times in Awakening, one of his Gundam novels. Bodhisattvas are like Buddhist saints- people who have been liberated from samsara (the cycle of birth and death) but who choose to stay in this realm to help others.
When Amuro first meets Lalah, she is watching a whooper swan. In the TV version, the swan dies and she says, “Isn’t it sad to watch them grow old and perish?” In the movie version, the swan is fine, but Lalah still says, “I was thinking how sad it was that it will grow old and die someday.”
In Hinduism, the hamsa (swan or goose) is a symbol of moksha (liberation from samsara.) Lalah appears as a swan after she is killed because she has become a bodhisattva. She died, but she isn’t dead- she is totally outside the life/death cycle.
In Japan, the most popular bodhisattva is Kannon. Kannon was originally a male bodhisattva from India called Avalokiteshvara, but she is usually revered in female form in Japan. (She can take the form of any gender or species, depending on who she appears to.) They say Kannon was a holy woman about to go to the Pure Land (sort of like Heaven), but then she looked back at the Earth and saw all the suffering humans and animals. She decided she didn’t want to leave anyone behind and became a bodhisattva, watching over everyone and protecting them. Lalah’s desire to watch over Amuro and Sha seems Kannon-inspired, especially since Kannon is associated with soldiers and war victims.
I don’t actually like the Gundam novels - I think they’re boring at best - but reading them sometimes makes the anime click more… at least for me. I didn’t grow up with any exposure to Eastern spirituality so I didn’t notice any of this stuff the first time I watched. But the novels name-drop lots of Hindu and Buddhist concepts, and I know more about those faiths now, so it’s been very interesting to revisit everything with this extra context.
I couldn't find a decent rip of Hokuto no Ken's 2 opening Tough Boy so here you go.
Lalah concept art by Tomino. The outfit is very 70s...
She is making a gyan mudra with her hands. This is a spiritual gesture associated with concentration, wisdom, enlightenment, etc.
Lalah has a quiet demeanor and likes to watch swans and frolic outdoors. But she's also a highly skilled and violently protective war pilot.
There are multiple scenes of her asking to go out and fight, or to keep fighting, and Sha tells her to calm down and be more cautious.
It bothers me when some Gundam fans describe her as some clueless ingenue who gets forced into fighting against her will because that is literally the exact opposite of who she is and what's happening here!
@animeherald this reminded me of something: Record of Lodoss War is based on a Dungeons & Dragons campaign... but not any D&D. It's based on Moldvay D&D which - as we all know - is the best D&D.
I probably have over 400 Lalah pics at this point. The nicer ones get picmixed.
