J'avoue que ce film est une véritable petite pépite, comparable à une madeleine de Proust : Del Toro a su mettre en scène (avec brio) ces petits plaisirs d'enfance que sont les robots géants, les monstres et leurs combats titanesques 
Le frisson du gigantisme est palpable (et c'est trop rare au cinéma pour ne pas le souligner).

Mazinger Z joins the Super Robot Star, SLDF Wayward Son.
The partial wing was invented by the robot obsessed Wayward Sons long before the inner spheres or clans would, as a way to bridge between mech and land-air mech, where the latter wasn't feasible, and has taken many forms. Even the Getter mechs would get in on it later, in the form of a cape.
