The Birth of Winnie-the-Pooh's Canadian Connection
Winnie-the-Pooh has a surprising Canadian origin! In 1914, Canadian Lieutenant Harry Colebourn purchased a bear cub at White River, Ontario, naming her Winnipeg after his hometown. "Winnie" traveled with him to England and later lived at the London Zoo, where she became the inspiration for A.A. Milne's beloved children's character.
