When stock markets crash, prices increase and the economy tanks, you get a non-stop news stream about it and everyone talks.

I wonder how the world would be if similar uproar would be created when people lose their right to exist, get deported incorrectly and/or without a due process, jailed without a crime, killed/injured/discriminated because of their religion/nationality/ethnicity/insert your reason here and so on and so on...

Neoliberal capitalism suffocates the capacity to even imagine alternatives.

So when one that is both desirable and clearly articulated pops up, it is important to pay attention.

Library Socialism is a beautiful idea.

And we could just choose to do it. No magic tech, no hero needed to save us.

What if we ran the economy?

Today In Labor History March 26, 1850: Edward Bellamy was born. Bellamy was an American author and socialist political activist, most well-known for his utopian novel, “Looking Backward,” one of the most commercially successful books published in the 19th century. It particularly appealed to the intellectuals who were alienated by the Gilded Age greed, corruption and violence. His book inspired many to form so-called “nationalist clubs” to implement his ideas of a society free of private property, social classes, war, poverty, crime, lawyers, politicians, prostitution, merchants, soldiers, and taxes. Plus, everyone could retire by the age of 45. He died at the age of 48 from tuberculosis.

🎶 Once there were parking lots
Now it's a peaceful oasis
You've got it, you've got it
This was a Pizza Hut
Now it's all covered with daisies
You've got it, you've got it
I miss the honky tonks
Dairy Queens, and 7-Elevens
You've got it, you've got it
And as things fell apart
Nobody paid much attention 🎶
