Asexuality is real. It’s valid. And it’s part of the rich spectrum of human diversity. Being ace means experiencing little to no sexual attraction and that’s perfectly normal. Let’s break the silence, bust the myths, and embrace inclusion for all.

Malawi’s LGBTQIA+ Community Faces a Humanitarian Crisis
Natural disasters, climate displacement, and systemic discrimination have created urgent humanitarian needs for LGBTQIA+ people in Malawi.
Without targeted aid, the most vulnerable remain overlooked and underserved.
It’s time to ensure equitable relief efforts that prioritize safety, dignity, and inclusion for ALL.
True belonging starts when we stop expecting people to adapt to us, and begin adjusting ourselves to truly welcome them.
Self-reflection
Adaptability
Empathy
Inclusive practices
Continuous learning
Celebrate differences

Today I had a meaningful and wide-ranging meeting with Alice Jordan-Baird MP (member for Gorton).
We discussed at length the need for legislative change to better support people with disability, focusing on systemic reform that removes barriers, ensures equitable access, and centres lived experience in policymaking.
We also explored ways to expand access to the NDIS so that more people with disability can receive the support they need, and how we can improve the NDIS and MyAgedCare systems by simplifying application and review processes. Reducing unnecessary bureaucracy and streamlining staffing structures are key steps to cutting costs without compromising support quality.
We spoke about the importance of increasing locally delivered support through councils to better meet community needs and providing necessary funding through greater State Government support.
The conversation also touched on environmental concerns, including the urgent need to end fossil fuel subsidies and stop new gas expansions, which threaten our future and disproportionately impact marginalised communities.
I'm grateful for the opportunity to raise these issues and look forward to our continued collaboration toward lasting, inclusive change.
If you're a person with disability and would like to join a future meeting with Alice and me to contribute your voice to ongoing discussions around disability inclusion and access, feel free to send me a DM. Your insights are valued and needed.

This week, we had a great time meeting people at the Brimbank Disability, Seniors & Carers Expo! Many people were surprised to learn that we are not part of the Council. We are a small, independent group run by volunteers. We do not get any money from the government, and some of our members even use their own pensions to keep our group going!
We’re committed to staying independent and working toward incorporation, so that we can apply for grants and get more support for our disability community. If you want to help, please contact us!
A special thanks to Jo Briskey MP, David Ettershank MP (and his office manager David P), Mayor Cr Thuy Dang, and Councillors Virginia Tachos and Kim Thien Truong, for taking the time to meet with us. And huge thanks to our dedicated members Jo and Lorraine, for their hard work preparing for and at the event!
Please like our page to follow what we do (facebook.com/brimbankdisability).
If you want to become a member, head to facebook.com/groups/brimbankdisability or email us at brimbankdisability@gmail.com.

Together, we can do great things!
