Third, if you split a holding into a set of smaller holdings each under different beneficial ownership, you greatly reduce the total amount of tax paid. This will necessarily drive holdings smaller.

Fourth, communities don't pay tax on common land: rather, it is to them that the tax is paid.

This means that instead of 'local' councils having to go cap in hand to #Holyrood for their finance, they instead have to beg from their Community Councils, driving democracy downwards.

How would it be if the #SNP split into two parties:

The Technocrats, led by #Swinney, who seek to govern well at #Holyrood but do not contest #Westminster elections; and

Scotland's Party, led by #Flynn, who campaign for #ScottishIndependence and stand in #Westminster elections but do not contest #Holyrood.

It does not seem to me that you can be both an incumbent (or aspiring) party of government, and a party of independence, when there is no constitutional path to independence.
