Welcomed sleep at the end of the week and greeted the weekend with Journal October the debut album by cellist David Darling, recorded in October 1979 and released on the ECM label

Tyran Grillo wrote for ECM Reviews:

"... His electric cello bays like a resurrected voice, an insight in and of itself into the lucidity of “Slow Return.” This introductory track is also the longest, drawing every jagged line like the echo of a mountainous horizon. From this potent doorway issues a host of transient forms.

...The closing piece sails like an entire biography gathered into one vessel. Notes ascend into birdcalls, circling a teetering falsetto that reshapes the drone dynamic as one suspended rather than suspending."

Grateful for this last run of @triofadolin shows in Long Island, at Columbia University and at TheLocal in Saugerties. We are lucky to do what we do, to explore a very special slice of repertoire, and to be supported by venues and friends in the City and out.

We'll have one short show in the middle of May, and then five opportunities to see us in June -- so we'll see you soon!

Are there any string quartets out there interested in a paid assignment to record a string quartet of about five minutes duration on a smart phone? The music is roughly Grade 7-8 and designed to be great to play and great to listen to. If so please contact me for more details. #NewMusic album of today is #Antifragile by #Ollella (I wonder if this name comes from either "All Ella" or "Ol' Ella"?🤔).

Ellie Barber was on @youtube_nprmusic #TinyDesk, however, her work isn't getting any traction. This is mind blowing to me, since it is so good. Maybe the curse of an #alternative #folk #indiemusic creator.

Woo! All my custom string sets from #DRstrings finally came in. Along with the tapewounds from #LaBella. Maybe tonight I'll throw them on.

Also, bought a Greco GS940 #semihollow #shortscale #bass that I'm going to convert into a #fretless #cello. That'll arrive in a few weeks.

Another #electricBass will be on it's way soon. Details to follow. 😜

Oh. I decided on a whim to buy a new used #Behringer graphicEQ and #DBX compressor+limiter+noise gate. I feel like I stole them they were so cheap but, I know they were sitting around for a long time.

Traded in a hard case that came w/ my #Ibanez bass.

It's certainly been a #NGD #newGearDay !
