Excellent lead story in The New Yorker on animal rights and veganism. I remain amazed that everyone who can hasn’t gone vegan. https://www.newyorker.com/culture/the-weekend-essay/what-would-it-mean-to-treat-animals-fairly #vegan #AnimalRights
@cookforgood That is a wonderful article, thanks for sharing it. I too have trouble understanding how good people I know cannot break away from the concept that they are slaughtering fellow animals unnecessarily and brutally by proxy. I have more respect for a hunter that directly kills and field dresses for food they will eat. #GoVegan #VeganForTheAnimals
@cookforgood Thanks for linking to that article. In looking at my own decision to move to veganism, I have to admit that my primary reasons were more centered around environmental and social justice than animal rights. But my thinking is shifting as I continue to learn more, and I think that the animals are what will now help keep me #vegan.
@StanWonn thanks, Stan, and I agree with you! cI’d been a vegetarian for a long time before I went vegan, first for health and the environment. After about three months on an all-plants diet, my brain and heart let me come to grips with what was happening to the animals. Now I’d stay vegan for them even if there were no other reason.
