#Christmas in the Hope household has moved on to the #Grinch. No 4K upscaled nonsense. No Jim Carrey. Just a digital TV recording from 2008 of the original animation.
Amusingly there are chyrons embedded in the recording that advertise the “NEW” special from Pixar: Prep & Landing. It’s up next. I love it.

If John Hughes had simply shot a few scenes twice then Planes, Trains and Automobiles would be a Christmas classic for those who celebrate that holiday.
Thanksgiving might be secular but is also very American.
I just saw it in a cinema with the whole family and everyone, not just us, really enjoyed it. It is Hughes' and Candy's best and up there for Steve Martin as well.

- National Lampoons Christmas Vacation. We refer to this as “The Holy Film” or just “The Film”
- A Child’s Christmas in Wales
- A Christmas Story
- Charles Dickens “A #Christmas Carol”: the old black and white Alistair Sim one.
- Honorable mention to Pixar’s “Prep & Landing”
