Our Garden Visitors (C-D)
I'm going to use these pages to list and ID by photograph the birds that we commonly get visiting the feeders or the garden in general, I may create another page for those less common appearances. I will try to use only shots from the garden but will label any that aren't but used as examples. I'm also going to try to keep images of the young birds to a separate blog.

Feeding in February
It's February 2nd and the weather isn't that great but at least there's decent light for my wanders and photography. I'm constantly saying it but it's very true; we are so lucky with the bird and wildlife around us, I don't even need to leave this seat sometimes and I can get great shots of the garden visitors. #Birds #BirdPhotogaphy #naturephotography #gardenbirds #Scotland #Perthandkinross

A small flock of white- winged crossbills descended on my spruce trees just now, gorging on spruce cones. A first for the garden (and me). The photo isn't the best, but here is one of the males. The windchill outside is -37°C.

New bird for me today! A Townsend's Solitaire visited a neighbour's tree.
We had a Robin wandering around the garden with us again today. Happy to get quite close to us, especially as we were uncovering tasty morsels for it.
We also saw the most operatic of robins in the walled garden nearby. The little critter was giving its all on its very tall podium.
One of the bird feeders has a horizontal perch that keeps the bottom of the feeder attached. Over time birds landing shift this perch until it exits one side and the weight of the fat balls (!) detaches the base. It's like bird feeder kerplunk and it's fascinating to watch.
