New #painting part of a series I am working on inspired by #Zen Gardens, #rocks #Suiseki #Bonsai #Penjing etc.
I often find inspiration in how nature is turned into art.
Not sure what its title is, but possibly Seeking Peace.
It’s large. 24 x 36” oil on canvas.
It is probably finished. I uploaded a lower res image. It’s much nicer IRL.

Made a few tiny tweaks and feel it’s a bit better. Here is both the reference photo and the painting.
I don’t trace or draw the figure first. I put the right color in the right places and eventually the painting is formed without much use of line at all except as exists.
Early in blocking in the figure I take a pic and superimpose it on the photo to check my proportions & accuracy and correct as needed.

I finished a new painting, so here's a crap photo of it. The timestamp has no significance to April Fools' Day, I just couldn't be arsed to turn it off.
