Ok, so I'm trying to make a torrent for #Tenacity and seed it. I figure I could create the torrent on one computer, transfer it to my file server via #BitTorrent (where it'll seed there), and then distribute the torrent and magnet link.

The transfer works fine because my file server and computer are on the same networks. However, when I test with my phone or another computer on a different network, it doesn't work. My file server is behind a firewall, but ports 6881-6889 are both open on both my router and firewall on the server.

What am I doing wrong? Is this too complicated?

What if we gave an official download over #BitTorrent? The main motivation is to provide a way to help reduce server load on @Codeberg because of recent AI crawlers. It's something we can do at the moment, but we hope every little but helps nonetheless. It also gives another outlet for people to download Tenacity if Codeberg is down or, for some reason, it's blocked in your country.

Just a thought, but if you want to see that happen, let us know below!

@Dio9sys I've seen many such weird "projects" that oftentimes ain't even #FLOSS and all they do at best is being a shittier version of @torproject / #Tor with a less-mature & battle-hardened tech stack.

Like I can get if they actually cared about #decentralization they'd use proven tech like #IPFS & #BitTorrent for hosting & file transfer but there are very few people I'd trust to be skilled enough to "roll their own network stack" cuz that's just barely below "roll your own #crypto" and almost noone should do that!

I have been planning this since last fall, but the coming #YouTube lockdown has finally gotten me to request an account on a #PeerTube instance! To start I will reupload content from my old channels, but I hope to eventually return to livestreaming (also on PeerTube and/or with #Owncast, since I won't be using #Twitch any more either). I am also thinking about getting a #seedbox and having magnet links to torrents of all my stuff, but since I know that PeerTube uses #webtorrent, I'm wondering if I can just get a magnet link for my video from my PeerTube instance and pass it to the seedbox.
