This week's #DisquietJunto prompt was to take an existing track that is in 4/4 and re-work it so it is in 5/4. I participated in #WeeklyBeats in 2024 and near the end I challenged myself to compose tracks in any time signature other than 4/4. I ended up with a handful of tracks in odd time that I really enjoyed making. In 2025, to keep the #AUSPEX momentum, I thought about posting one daily loop then assembling a weekly snapshot to make a 52 track mix for the whole year.

I've written down a set of rules to define how a pattern should evolve, but I realize the result would be more interesting if I loosened the rules and just focused on releasing one track per week, while keeping this daily evolving mix idea.

So... this year I'm kind of doing my own #WeeklyBeats.

Finished #WeeklyBeats 2024 with 52/52 tracks. It's an awesome feeling. (And I'm fucking glad it's over.)

This week's #WeeklyBeats track hasn't even been one hour of work yet and I'm already dancing around the room with a big smile on my face.

It's gonna be silly, it's gonna be fun, and it's gonna have lyrics. Sort of.

I've made some nice tracks during #WeeklyBeats 2024, but not gonna lie, I am feeling the musical burnout. I'll be celebrating the first week of January, the first week where there's not going to be a track to be made. I'm all out of ideas, and I'm looking forward for actually making something when I'm _inspired_ instead of because the schedule says so.

Of course I also am a bit anxious whether I'll continue to produce stuff at all once I'm no longer "forced" to do it.

Listening through some of my #WeeklyBeats tracks and I'm kinda proud of some of the things I've produced so far.

Most of these tracks could've used more time to work on them, but some are like … yeah, I wouldn't feel ashamed to release them as they are.

If you need some recommendations on what to check out: I'm enjoying "Flourish" (cute DnB with a bird), "Move On", "Venting" (Industrial Apollo), "Arpocalypse" (Pop), "Approach" (Ambient), "Wayfinder" & "Patria, pt. 2".

I had an #Ableton Push, never really produced anything with it. Upgraded to a Push 2, same story. Bought a #SynthstromDeluge, which collected dust as well.

Then #WeeklyBeats came along and forced me to make a track. Every week. I got better. I'm having fun. But the soft touch coating on my Push was all sticky, so I did it all on the Deluge.

I've finally cleaned the Push and will use it to produce this week's track. And oh boy, is it different from the #Deluge. Not better or worse. Different.
