Seems like it’s past time for an urgent, high-level congressional investigation with whomever is actually making these life and death decisions. Do we know who wields the axe? Does anyone? It can’t be a low-level ICE trooper, can it?

Border Security & Enforcement (HHS Committee) has been told due process is the law, yet we’ve had expulsions of American citizens and what looks like near-instantaneous deportations of undocumented immigrants since those determinations.

What the hell can WE do about these atrocities? This has to stop.

This is just NUTS! So many incidents involving firefighter accidents/deaths are shown to have explicit causes that lead to changes in protocols and/or equipment (or better compliance with existing protocols) and thus prevention of future tragedies. Investigations can take multiple years, and Fed funding is necessary (NECESSARY!) to do the exhaustive forensic examination required. Health hazards are very real in their careers — check the death rate post retirement — they die off too damned soon from all kinds of illnesses.

Every firefighter puts their life on the line at every shift they work. Does he even know WTF this cutback means?

This is a perfect example of what we’ve lost by eliminating philosophy & morality/ethics studies from our educational system & culture. ‘Corporate complicity’ is a real concern here, just as it is for those whose employment supports weapons of war, migrant family separation, unconstitutional arrest methods & the arrests themselves — and a hundred other ways we violate human rights & lives.

‘Morality’ isn’t just being nice, not cheating on parking meters & taxes. Real morality has a backbone that requires assent to solid principles based on ethics — and making difficult choices supported by that backbone. (“Do I work for Palantir or not?” “Am I complicit if I work for CBP?”)

Enormous wealth & obscene power, & the application of those two in concert, have eroded our collective morality; the spineless Republican Party, the Billionaire Boyz & mega-corporations are prime examples.

Seems to me it’s time for Members of both Houses of Congress to stand up and appoint a Special Counsel or Special Inspector or Special Fuckface to stop this bullshit TODAY. Seventy million Americans receive EARNED, Disability & Survivor benefits through SS & SSI, and 40% of recipients name it as their sole income.

DOGE is fucking around with people’s homes, food, necessities, but Elmo won’t be finding out— beneficiaries will be when they become hungry, homeless and DEAD.

We never had the opportunity to opt out of FICA taxes. The government should not have the option to default on administrative services to ensure its obligations are met.

Isn’t it cute how these “christian” politicians seem to find the most vulnerable people to exploit and abuse in one way or another?

This crap must stop — like NOW!
