Key lessons of Covid are being forgotten UK scientists warn

The government promised to learn from the #pandemic but appears to be suffering from #Covid amnesia, forgetting devastating cost of an underfunded #health service & public services cut to the bone

There's no evidence the health service would be any better prepared today should another #lethal #virus appear in the near future, scientists said.

Jeremy #Corbyn warns against return of Labour’s expensive PFIs

It’s like doing a bad deal with a pawnbroker & never getting out of it

It might give us a shiny new hospital, but will give us debt that goes on forever

When PFI was first proposed in 1994 or 1995 as Labour policy, there is a bit of TV footage of me standing outside my house explaining to TV journalist that #PFI would cost us all a lot of money in the long run

Buy back British Gas

Under #Labour plans, #GreatBritishEnergy won’t sell direct to UK households - this is a missed opportunity

Please buy back British Gas as the retail wing of the new company, so it can give us cheaper bills.

63% of the population want to buy back #BritishGas. It is normal for households to be able to buy energy directly from a publicly owned company in other countries like France and Sweden.

How much does your water company profit from pollution?

This is a scandal. Every day, private English #water companies are dumping huge amounts of disgusting raw sewage into our rivers and seas. #Privatisation has been failing since 1989.

The shareholders receive £1.6 billion a year on average - that money could be invested in water infrastructure to stop sewage. 69% of us support public ownership.
