Phone footage appears to contradict Israel’s account in killing of 15 Palestinian medics

Video from a medic killed by Israeli forces appears to contradict Israeli claims that medics’ vehicles did not have emergency signals on when troops fired on them in #Gaza.

The footage shows medics driving slowly with emergency lights flashing, logos visible. The teams do not appear to act in a threatening manner as they approach a previously stricken ambulance.

They immediately come under a barrage of gunfire which lasts over 5 minutes. The owner of the phone can be heard praying.

“Forgive me, mother. This is the path I chose, mother, to help people,” he cries, his voice weak.

8 Red Crescent and 6 Civil Defense workers and a UN staffer were killed before dawn on March 23 by #Israeli troops who then bulldozed over the bodies and mangled vehicles, burying them in a mass grave.

Israeli troops killed 15 Palestinian medics and buried them in a mass grave, UN says

Palestinians held funerals Monday for 15 emergency responders killed by Israeli troops in #Gaza, after their bodies and mangled ambulances were found buried in an impromptu mass grave, apparently plowed over by Israeli military bulldozers.

The Palestinian Red Crescent says the slain workers and their vehicles were clearly marked as medical, and accused #Israelis of killing them “in cold blood.” The Israeli military says it fired on vehicles that approached “suspiciously” without identification.

The dead include 8 Red Crescent workers, 6 from Gaza’s Civil Defense emergency unit and a UNRWA staffer.

“Available information indicates that the first team was killed by Israeli forces on 23 March,” the UN said. Further teams that went to rescue the first were “struck one after another over several hours.”

Israeli settlers seen on camera assaulting a Palestinian village. Police arrest only Palestinians

Israeli settlers attacked a Palestinian village in the Israeli-occupied West Bank Friday, beating residents with sticks and rocks. Security camera video and testimonies from Palestinian witnesses appeared to conflict with the account from Israeli police and military, who arrested over 20 Palestinians afterwards.

The videos provide stark images of the type of assault Palestinians say occurs frequently. They say radical Jewish settlers rarely, if ever, face repercussions for attacking Palestinian communities, while Palestinians are often rounded up in droves by Israeli forces.

Following the incident, Israeli police said they detained 22 Palestinians on suspicion of stone throwing. They did not respond when asked by AP why no Israeli civilians were arrested.

Netanyahu mulls plan to empty northern Gaza of civilians and cut off aid to those left

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is examining a plan to seal off humanitarian aid to northern Gaza in an attempt to starve out Hamas militants, a plan that, if implemented, could trap without food or water hundreds of thousands of Palestinians unwilling or unable to leave their homes.

Those who remain would be considered combatants — meaning military regulations would allow troops to kill them — and denied food, water, medicine and fuel, according to a copy of the plan given to The Associated Press by its chief architect, who says the plan is the only way to break Hamas in the north and pressure it to release the remaining hostages.

The plan calls for #Israel to maintain control over the north for an indefinite period to attempt to create a new administration without Hamas, splitting the #Gaza Strip in two.
