"Jessica" is an #instrumental piece by American rock band #theAllmanBrothersBand, released in December 1973 as the second #single from the group's fourth studio album, #BrothersAndSisters (1973). Written by guitarist #DickeyBetts, the song is a tribute to #gypsyJazz guitarist #DjangoReinhardt, in that it was designed to be played using only two fingers on the left hand. Betts wrote the majority of "Jessica" at the band's farm in #Juliette, #Georgia.

"Django" is a 1954 #jazzStandard written by #JohnLewis as a tribute to the Belgian-born jazz guitarist #DjangoReinhardt. It was a signature composition of the #ModernJazzQuartet, of which Lewis was the pianist and musical director.

if i'd not happened upon the 2017 biopic, 'django', i'd never have heard this reconstruction of his almost lost 'requiem for gypsy brothers' that he wrote to commemorate the 250,000-500,000 romani gypsies who were exterminated by the nazis.
