EU's specs for the digital wallet are available at github.com/eu-digital-identity, in case you didn't know.

I got an answer from the danish ministry for digitalization to a mail I sent them back in july, asking wether they were going to open source the danish version, and wether they were aware of the dutch Yivi app, which is OSS and available on f-droid, saying basically, yes they are aware, and specifically pointed me to the "Architecture and Reference framework" section of said specs.

Reading through all the documents referenced is a bit much for me, but I do find the basic principle sympathetic - User in control of data, no logging, nothing more than the nessecary shared in usage.

Die EU führt die "digitale Identität" ein. Was von ihren Befürworter*innen mit irgendwelchen vermeintlichen Erleichterungen und völlig absurden Fortschrittsbegriffen gerechtfertigt werden soll, ist primär eine erweiterbare Infrastruktur, die die digitale Überwachung und soziale Kontrolle sowie neue Ausbeutungsmöglichkeiten (Daten gegen Zugang und Teilnahme, Verhaltensoptimierung etc.) der meisten Menschen durch Staaten und Konzerne keineswegs nur im Internet sondern im vernetzten Alltag auf eine neue Ebene befördern könnte. Bei der angekündigten Freiwilligkeit wird es erwartbar nicht lange bleiben, weshalb wir uns mit allen Mitteln gegen diese und andere dystopische Werkzeuge von Überwachungsstaat und Überwachungskapitalismus wehren sollten!

Die EU feiert sich selbst für den nächsten Meilenstein der digitalen Kontrollgesellschaft. #eiDas

Aus Erfahrung können wir davon ausgehen, dass selbst etwaige Datenschutzversprechen allerhöchstens bis zur nächsten Krise bzw. dem nächstbesten Vorwand halten. Dann kann die bis dahin bestehende Infrastruktur mit entsprechenden Gewohnheitseffekten und Verdrängungen analoger Alternativen vollends für autoritäre Bedürfnisse und optimierte, "smarte" Ausbeutung verwendet werden.

Die Frage ist dabei weniger ob es gemacht wird sondern nur wann.
