I'm a bit puzzled by today's cicada, it looks rather like the masked devil I posted the other day, but in green instead of orange. It's not the same as what I recognise as a green grocer, which are all green. A cross?

Lens says Cyclochila australasiae, or green grocer, yellow monday, and masked devil. I think most likely a green masked devil.

A cicada clings to the brown bricks of my home. Its head and thorax are mostly shades of green with an orange wash. It appears to wearing a black mask over red-brown eyes. The sides of its head are orange. A black speed stripe runs from the centre of the mask almost to the thorax, which has its own speed striping forming patterns - I can almost see two hands grasping. Its abdomen is shiny black. Rippled transparent wings show green and orange veins,which appear to be structural.

Completed the dog-day cicadas before the dog-days of summer, named for the first day the Dog Star Sirius can be seen to rise above the eastern horizon at dawn. The Tibicen canicularis, also known as dogday harvestfly or dog-day cicada, is common in North America and its power-saw like buzzing song is taken as a sign of summer.

A tiny horizontal rectangular Lino block print on white kozo or mulberry paper against a white background to make a square image, shows a dog-day cicada with outer wings outstretched. It is seen from above. Its body is largely black and brown with some pale green and golden yellow markings behind its eyes. Its segmented insect wings are green and beige with hints of yellow.
