Just noticed today that the electric Caltrain trains are 7 cars long. I seem to recall that the diesels were 5 cars long. Am I misremembering, or are the trains longer, the cars shorter, or both?

Does anyone know if there is a convenient way to get a map of "all #sfmuni vehicles near me"?
Because sometimes you would just need to walk over a block to get on a parallel line, and that could be the best option.
Or if you get off #CalTrain at 4th & King, and want to get downtown, you have a lot of choices. And you might just want to get on whatever's coming first, but the stops are in different places.
Here's why #CalTrain was messed up this morning. (You can see a bit of work on the overhead starting about 3:10).
I've figured ever since electrification that something like this was going to happen eventually (I was more expecting a fallen tree) and then we'd find out how on the ball they are about getting things fixed. Getting overhead fixed in a couple of hours is not bad, really.
Mega-development could transform S.F. railyards into cluster of towers — one 850 feet tall ($)

The 22nd St #CalTrain station could really be improved by some graffiti.
The ought to invite every tagger in town to just come and have at it. Even set up some scaffolds to they can get high up on those walls and pillars.
Grade separation in several towns in San Mateo county are sorely needed. There’s been too many incidents at crossings, not to mention the congestion the train crossings cause.
There's the train.
This might be the last time we ever see one of these running here.
(Unless a few stick around for track maintenance work and that sort of thing).
#CalTrain
#CalTrain still has a few Bombardiers on the property for the Gilroy run, and they've painted some of them really nicely.
Now that #Caltrain has switched over to using electric trains, where will all the old diesel trains end up? Lima, Peru!
Our old #CalTrain trains are heading to Peru. https://www.trains.com/trn/news-reviews/news-wire/caltrain-equipment-is-bound-for-peru/
There's a rumor that yesterday's #CalTrain issues were due to a T-Shirt.
Which I take to mean, someone threw a shirt up onto the overhead lines. Or it blew up there. Or something. The incident seems to have happened around San Bruno, so maybe some random junk flew out a car on the Hwy 92 overpass.
If it's true then the real issue is lack of an efficient strategy for dealing with random small objects up on the line.
We hope to see you there this morning!

On an electric Caltrain! With a bike! SOOO GOOOOD. As close as I’ve felt to a Copenhagen experience in the US. #PublicTransit #Caltrain
Some pics from the first electric #Caltrain open to the public leaving from #SanFrancisco!
Apparently #CalTrain had a secret publicity event for the start of electric service this morning. My daughter sent me this picture of EMU plushies scraped from whatever social media apps kids use.
I can sympathize with these #CalTrain employees, I also loved TMNT2. https://sfist.com/2024/03/30/ex-caltrain-employees-accused-of-building-secret-homes-in-stations-with-public-funds/
