boxd.itA ★★★½ review of Bullet Train Explosion (2025)Let’s start with the obvious- the plot of this movie, if a train slows down it will explode, sounds suspiciously similar to Speed, doesn’t it? Well, it does but this movie is actually a sequel to a 1975 Japanese film called Bullet Train that actually inspired Speed.  Having said that, this sequel to the 1975 film is a slick well designed film that shares some similarity to Shin Godzilla (which was co-directed by this film’s director) in that the action moves back and forth between the people on the train and the functionaries in the control booths.   It does

映画「スピード」(1994)の元ネタが日本の映画「新幹線大爆破」(1975)らしく、その「新幹線大爆破」のリメイクが今月リリースされると話題だけど、「新幹線大爆破」は観てなくて言うのは悪いけど、このテーマの正解はバスだと思う。

⦿ 街中を走って様々な困難があり犠牲が多くなりそう。乗用車に衝突しながら進む画が作れる
⦿ 新幹線はコースに嘘がつけない。車はどこでも走れる
⦿ 実際に登場した「直角だけど曲がれるのか!?」というネタができる。大ジャンプは無茶な映像だったけど面白かった
⦿ 乗客の連帯感がちょうどいい人数
