The same amount of farm inputs, soil water etc etc, produces either 16 kg of grain OR 2 kg of meat.
@londonerabroad
I think this infographic is kind of misleading by suggesting all people are equal.
@peter It's statistics based on approximate averages as far as I know. Nothing sinister but I am sure you get the point.
@londonerabroad
I tried to make a sarcastic comment about feeding 2 rich people being more important than feeding 20 poor people.
@peter I see. Perhaps more realistic than sarcastic!
@londonerabroad
Those two are not exclusive
@peter The fact is that a lot of crops grown in Africa go to feed livestock bred in Europe and Asia to supply their populations with meat whilst Africans go hungry.
@londonerabroad
I think the core problem here is not that cows are being eaten, but that crops are being stolen.
I know we don't say 'stolen', but I forgot the term we use. "Unequal distribution of wealth" maybe?
@peter Yes it's not just that cows are being eaten but that they along with other animals and people, particularly in Africa, are being exploited. nobody should be exploited for the benefit of smeone else, regardless of race, gender, etc., even species. Cows along with African children for example are with us not for us.
@peter What other than exploitation is the meaning of colonialism?
@londonerabroad Plot twist: mussels (unlike food derived from cows, pigs and poultry) are more eco-friendly than many cereals. What do you think about that?
@GiacomoSansoni As a vegan I personally don't eat mussels because I think of them as a kind of animal, though many say that they are unable to feel pain and therefore are not strictly speaking sentient beings. I have decided that they could be sentient (have feelings) and furthermoe I really don't need to eat them, so I don't consume them at all.
The same amount of farm inputs, soil water etc etc, produces either 16 kg of grain OR 2 kg of meat.
That needs to be added to post image.
You need to explain why 2 = 16 in the example.
