In an ideal world, #slaughterhouses will close down, farmed animals would be released into #sanctuaries, and farms and feedlots will be repurposed or returned to nature. Rebecca Shen has turned one of those ideas into a design as part of her Master's Thesis.
It is set in an idealised future in which cows are not exploited for meat or dairy. The design transforms an 800-acre feedlot (Harris Ranch) into a sanctuary, a healing site for cows.
Currently the 'CAFO' or Concentrated Animal Feeding Operation, is the largest on the west coast of the United States. The 800 acre lot consists of a barren dirt floor holding between 70-100,000 cows at a time.
This fascinating design provides a realistic glimpse of a future where animals are no longer exploited, farmed, or harmed.

@VeganAustralia I hope she’s right about the growing momentum for advocacy for farm animals. Sometimes it feels hopeless to be vegan for the animals in this anthropocentric world overran by the greedy 1%.
