Heeyyy vegans of Mastodon ✌

What's your preferred plant based milk? I like quite a few but it's always gotta be oat milk in my coffee. 🌱☕

@Jin_Sane First choice for coffee is Oatly Barista, for everything else it's Alpro Oat - no sugar (as you have there!)

@Jin_Sane Not vegan but I'm all about the Oat milk

@Jin_Sane I stick to Espresso, but every now and then i like a cappuccino with oat milk. The best cappuccino is from Spettacolo, our bistros at Swiss railway stations, and i think they too uses alpro.

@Jin_Sane my now favorites are an unsweetend organic ricemilk & Soy Barista (due to hypothyroidism I can only consume soy products several hours after medication). And I get heartburn from oats & oatmilk, so no alternative for me

@geolode still haven't tried this. Is it more like dairy milk?

@Jin_Sane Alpro Cuppa for tea, black coffee and I knit my own hazelnut and oat milk for cereal using one of these 😋

@joergi @Jin_Sane this one really tastes incredibly similar to what I remember as cow milk!!🤯

@Jin_Sane I always have black coffee/tea but my porridge is always coconut milk

@Jin_Sane oat milk is easily my favorite, even before going vegan because I'm lactose intolerant. Soy milk is good, almond is... Fine, I guess, not a huge fan but I'm glad it's there for the people who like it.

But oat milk, oat milk is amazing. Very happy it's so much easier to find than it used to be.

@Jin_Sane I don't get it, but it's almond lately.

@moshtodon @Jin_Sane Oat and Soy, but I prefer Barista-versions for coffee. Sometimes also Coconut or plantdrink with Vanilla-flavour. The only plant that absolutely didn’t work for me was pea. Used it for mashed potatoes instead.

@Jin_Sane not vegan but I don’t drink dairy milk - the Oatly Barista is the only one I’ll use at home.

@Jin_Sane Oatly Full-Fat (dark blue carton in US). Best daily driver for me — stands up to coffee and works in many vegan recipes calling for almond milk. Not Barista, but close enough for jazz. :)

@Jin_Sane I like soy. It is the most nutritious. It also tends to be the most natural. Other plant milks tend to have very few nuts, oats, etc and a LOT of additives to make it milky. Oil, stabilizers, minerals etc. Reading ingredient lists oatmilk tends to be the worst, with oil often listed as a second or third ingredient.

@Jin_Sane I like oat milk too but I like to make my own because the shop bought stuff is often considered ultra-processed and that's not really a good thing. But oat milk for sure!

@Jin_Sane I've have coffee black but prefer oat milk for tea

@Jin_Sane pretty sure im the minority for liking coconut milk in coffee

@LukaP coconut latte can be quite nice 👌

@Jin_Sane Rice milk only for drink 😋 and soy milk only for use in kitchen recipes, especially salted recipes (bcs rice drink's taste is too sweet) or sweet recipes that require the thickness of the cow milk that only soy drink can provide.

@Jin_Sane Oatly Barista for everything. It's not just a good vegan alternative, it's actually an upgrade on normal milk.

@Jin_Sane I’m not loyal to one particular plant based milk. Soy for cooking, oat for cereal, and almond cream for coffee ☕😋

@Jin_Sane
Moma oat barista on my cereal. Any soya unsweetened for cooking. Nothing in my tea.

@Jin_Sane not a vegan but I use oat milk for coffee and rice milk for protein shakes.

@Jin_Sane Unsweetened #soymilk with my black tea, cereal, and porridge. #PlantMilk
