Karen Melchior<p>What the f* is going on with buying Eurostar tickets on other platforms? I can't even buy them on <a href="https://norrebro.space/tags/trainline" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>trainline</span></a>, let alone through DB - makes taking the train to Brussels hard as I can't buy the Köln-BXL leg jon@gruene.social, do you have an idea?</p>
El Duvelle<p>I used to like <a href="https://neuromatch.social/tags/Trainline" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Trainline</span></a>, but it seems they have become enshittified:</p><ul><li>you can't book a full journey in one go if it includes Eurostar - have to book the parts separately, so what's the point?</li><li>they add a booking fee to each booking (so, booking several parts, see above, comes with a fee each time)</li><li>no useful way to contact them: it's either whatsapp, "X" or a paid phone number</li><li>they add a huge fee if you exchange a ticket: £20 per trip, even if the new ticket is cheaper than the old one! Edit: if it's a return trip that goes up to £40!</li><li>website is overly complicated.</li></ul><p>So, I will stop using them and will go back to using local train operators. 🤷<br><a href="https://neuromatch.social/tags/Train" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Train</span></a> <a href="https://neuromatch.social/tags/Travel" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Travel</span></a></p>
Mark Burton<p>Interesting &amp; alarming. I'd reverted to <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/trainline" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>trainline</span></a> for domestic rail travel, despite the booking fee as it is convenient, but I'll stop now and again book directly with a TOC like <a href="https://tfw.wales" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">tfw.wales</span><span class="invisible"></span></a> which is publicly owned.<br>For international rail I mostly use <a href="https://www.raileurope.com" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="">raileurope.com</span><span class="invisible"></span></a> but also follow recommendations from <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mas.to/@seatsixtyone" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>seatsixtyone</span></a></span> <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://gruene.social/@jon" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>jon</span></a></span> and others, especially if cross-border.</p><p>Trainline accused of ripping off customers and deliberately misleading them - rmt <a href="https://www.rmt.org.uk/news/trainline-accused-of-ripping-off-customers-and-deliberately/?preview=true" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">rmt.org.uk/news/trainline-accu</span><span class="invisible">sed-of-ripping-off-customers-and-deliberately/?preview=true</span></a><br><a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/rail" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>rail</span></a></p>
