@chowderman @alfredo @EugeneMcParland Europe has no choice, but to defend itself. We unlike the U.S. have a longer history of violent civil and National conflicts. It’s in our psyche. The U.S. is a multicultural colony of Empire anyway, so do not really understand what it means to die for King or Queen, God and Country. War and civil war are not fun or a game where the winner does not lose. Empires oligarchs gaslight and project it to be otherwise. Of course, I could be wrong and there is a popular and absurd desire for Europeans to give up on the idea of Republics and their Federation (ironically a U.S. idea) and be ruled by proxy dictators? #MadEmpires #TheResistance #FallOfThe4thReich

In the once-United States, the predicted Trump era brain drain has started as academics move to where their talents are needed. We might soon see scientists and technical people follow them as attacks by the regime continue and their work prospects diminish. Already, a French university has opened its doors to US refugee scientists.

This is a reversal of the brain drain of the 1960s when scientists and techs quit the UK for the US.

It is like the regime sees how a less-educated population would be easier to control. The losers are US education and innovation. The winners are those nations who take in the skilled people with no future in the US.

You know, as I watched the footage of Al Green remaining on his feet and that shit-eating grin slowly crawling across Trump's smug face, it occurred to me:

In a parallel universe, another Democrat is standing up right now. And then another, and another after that. Within a minute half the Democrats and a couple of Republicans are on their feet, and Trump's grin freezes as he realizes they can't eject them all.

In that Universe they paper over the dissent, but it's too late: his bubble of invulnerability has been pierced.
