Lori Emerson<p>I am regretting I didn't perfectly qualify the quote from that piece about how radio cannot be tracked...listen, there are things you can do to obfuscate your radio activity just as there are things you can do when you get online. to me, the point is that in 2025 radio is an OTHER space, one that doesn't involve corporate tracking (of everything and anything as minute as practically the air you breathe), one whose potential is still largely untapped, and reminds us of the importance of choice and heterogeneity. "Other Networks: Beyond the Internet Imaginary" will be entirely outside the 'net and will include a Kodak 4400 slide carousel for images (with a 20 foot long wired remote control), 15 battery-powered radios, a mini FM transmitter, a first generation iPod, a wired speaker, 10 semaphore flags, directions for speaking and clapping morse code, and two different "Other Networks" stamped postcards. coming to Boulder sometime...soon!</p>

I don't have anything particularly useful to add to what has already been said anyways. I heard Van Jones say that we need to move away from calling people (or situations) OUT and instead return to calling people UP. and it reminded me also of Latour's encouragement for us to become "not the one who debunks, but the one who assembles. The critic is not the one who lifts the rugs from under the feet of the naive believers, but the one who offers the participants arenas in which to gather."</p>
