Hervé @ Puma - IT Services 🐧<p>What I miss the most is an <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/AddressBook" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AddressBook</span></a> for <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/SocialNetworks" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>SocialNetworks</span></a> and the <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/Fediverse" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Fediverse</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/Decentralized" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Decentralized</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/Interoperable" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Interoperable</span></a>. A spreadsheet is just a decent solution for the moment. For Friends, Clients, Partners, Groups, Thematic interests, you name them... Nothing like this with Buffer, Publer, Metricool, SocialBee, etc</p><p>The next massive feature for software and platforms for <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/SocialMedia" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>SocialMedia</span></a> Management, is a Contact manager: </p><p>👇</p>
Delta Chat<p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://framapiaf.org/@sebsauvage" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>sebsauvage</span></a></span> <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://nerdculture.de/@titaniumbiscuit" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>titaniumbiscuit</span></a></span> not all classic e-mail providers work equally well but many do. Since <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/chatmail" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>chatmail</span></a> entered the global e-mail server network 14 months ago, and we introduced instant-onboarding april 2024, we de-emphasize <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/gmail" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>gmail</span></a> <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/outlook" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>outlook</span></a> and <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/iCloud" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>iCloud</span></a> and don't perform "free" work to help them continue to dominate. Instead we put our energy into growing the chatmail server network which does away with spam/rate-limit problems by design. Everything is based on <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/interoperable" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>interoperable</span></a> <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/cryptography" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>cryptography</span></a> .</p>
Delta Chat<p><a href="https://chaos.social/tags/deltachat" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>deltachat</span></a> is a minority messenger today and that's just fine for now. Changes often come from the precarious fringe which has to make ends meet, under hostile circumstances. Our approaches are aiming to provide working software that does its damn job. No unable to decrypt, no going for VC/Blockchain money, no bending the knee and no endorsing of corporate platforms. The <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/chatmail" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>chatmail</span></a> server network implements <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/interoperable" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>interoperable</span></a> <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/cryptography" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>cryptography</span></a> , does away with shady spam lists, catering for <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/Gmail" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Gmail</span></a> etc</p>
Delta Chat<p>Isn't it poetic and ironic that out of all possible time lines we are in one where <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/securejoin" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>securejoin</span></a> <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/openpgp" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>openpgp</span></a> protocols on top of the existing <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/email" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>email</span></a> protocols offer the arguably most solidly scaling, useable, world-wide federated end-to-end encrypted messaging reality, safe against compromised <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/mitm" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>mitm</span></a> servers? Hundreds of billions spend to create "the email successor" and here we are in 2025 .... <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/interoperable" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>interoperable</span></a> <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/email" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>email</span></a> and <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/cryptography" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>cryptography</span></a> as the tortoise looking at Achilles through the back mirror :)</p>
Delta Chat<p>No coins, no chains, no big machinery but plain, efficient and scalable decentralization, leveraging the largest open internet messaging network ever created by humans ... made safe, fast and resource efficient with <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/chatmail" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>chatmail</span></a> servers using strong and audited <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/interoperable" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>interoperable</span></a> <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/cryptography" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>cryptography</span></a>. It just works (tm) in many places where Signal and WhatsApp fail today. It's time to reclaim "decentralization" from techbros, insist on real-life <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/resilience" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>resilience</span></a> and trust this cute figure from <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mastodon.ml/@Xeniax" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>Xeniax</span></a></span> :)</p>
candide.xyz<p>I started using <a href="https://vis.social/tags/ListenBrainz" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ListenBrainz</span></a> this year, and love it! It's exactly the kind of <a href="https://vis.social/tags/FOSS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>FOSS</span></a>, <a href="https://vis.social/tags/interoperable" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>interoperable</span></a>, platform-agnostic music data ownership I want.</p><p>That said, I can't <a href="https://vis.social/tags/scrobble" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>scrobble</span></a> my <a href="https://vis.social/tags/iPod" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>iPod</span></a> or <a href="https://vis.social/tags/iTunes" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>iTunes</span></a> listening history. ListenBrainz just launched an iOS beta app, but it only works on iOS 14: <a href="https://testflight.apple.com/join/f0kxAV8e" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">testflight.apple.com/join/f0kx</span><span class="invisible">AV8e</span></a></p><p>My iPod usage has been steadily decreasing over the last few years, but I still like the idea of a separate device for music listening to preserve battery and storage on my phone.</p>
