Alan<p>Out of curiosity I just contacted <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mastodon.social/@fastmail" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>fastmail</span></a></span> to see if they hosted my email in Australia. Turns out they don't, its all US-based.</p><p>I knew they had offices there but this is something else, calling them an Australian business isn't really true. Honestly I'm pretty disappointed and not sure what to do next.</p><p>I get that places still host in the US but I was working to de-Google myself and ultimately reduce my reliance on it, and this just kinda sucks.</p><p><a href="https://aus.social/tags/emailhosting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>emailhosting</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/fastmail" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>fastmail</span></a></p>
Daniel 🏳️‍🌈<p>Eine Frage an Menschen, die sich damit auskennen: </p><p>Mein hosting provider <a href="https://norden.social/tags/DomainFactory" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>DomainFactory</span></a> zieht die E-Mail Konten auf <a href="https://norden.social/tags/MS365" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>MS365</span></a> um. Zum einen wird es für noch dadurch erheblich teurer, zum anderen ist es <a href="https://norden.social/tags/Microsoft" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Microsoft</span></a>.</p><p>Meine Frage: hat jemand eine <a href="https://norden.social/tags/Empfehlung" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Empfehlung</span></a> für <a href="https://norden.social/tags/EmailHosting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>EmailHosting</span></a> oder auch <a href="https://norden.social/tags/DomainHosting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>DomainHosting</span></a>?</p><p>Danke für eine Rückmeldung! <br><a href="https://norden.social/tags/GerneBoosten" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>GerneBoosten</span></a> <a href="https://norden.social/tags/GerneTeilen" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>GerneTeilen</span></a> </p><p><a href="https://norden.social/tags/MailHosting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>MailHosting</span></a></p>
Taffer 🇨🇦 :godot:<p>For fans (?) of my Canadian Alternatives list: <a href="https://codeberg.org/Taffer/canadian-alternatives" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">codeberg.org/Taffer/canadian-a</span><span class="invisible">lternatives</span></a></p><p>I'm probably going to migrate my website/email from Dreamhost to CanSpace; the previous front runner (whc.ca) seems to have ghosted me. They won't answer the question "Do you offer discounts if I pre-pay for multiple years." 🤷 </p><p><a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/canada" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>canada</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/quebec" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>quebec</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/webhosting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>webhosting</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/emailhosting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>emailhosting</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/buycanadian" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>buycanadian</span></a></p>
HACK13<p>New post where I list out some of the things I am considering as I am trying to find a replacement for my <a href="https://cyberfurz.social/tags/email" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>email</span></a> provider. As I am considering leaving <a href="https://cyberfurz.social/tags/fastmail" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>fastmail</span></a> for a different options that are out there. I am curious if others have thoughts and would be interested in reading my thoughts and reply to my post here on the <a href="https://cyberfurz.social/tags/fediverse" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>fediverse</span></a> with some thoughts.</p><p><a href="https://hack13.blog/2025/03/finding-my-new-email-solution/" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">hack13.blog/2025/03/finding-my</span><span class="invisible">-new-email-solution/</span></a></p><p><a href="https://cyberfurz.social/tags/sysadmin" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>sysadmin</span></a> <a href="https://cyberfurz.social/tags/emailhosting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>emailhosting</span></a></p>
Out of Control :laravel: 🇨🇦<p>Any here try the self-hosted forwardemail.net? A possible setup instead of mail-in-a-box and iRedMail? As I have several family members that have their email with me, I need quality/secure dashboard access to lots of the email and spam tools. Most offerings are lacking in this area. </p><p><a href="https://phpc.social/tags/emailhosting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>emailhosting</span></a> <a href="https://phpc.social/tags/email" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>email</span></a> <a href="https://phpc.social/tags/selfhost" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>selfhost</span></a></p>
Taffer 🇨🇦 :godot:<p>I'm specifically looking for a Canadian host that has something like Dreamhost's "Shared Unlimited" plan.</p><p>The Canadian hosts I've found still seem to think that storage is expensive and email addresses are rare resources to be doled out one at a time.</p><p>I don't even have crazy needs; my website is entirely static, low traffic, and not huge (under 30MB total), and we've got probably 5GB-ish of email spread over 3 accounts. 🤷 </p><p><a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/cira" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>cira</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/webhosting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>webhosting</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/emailhosting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>emailhosting</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/hosting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>hosting</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/email" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>email</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/dotca" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>dotca</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/canada" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>canada</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/can" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>can</span></a></p>
