The shape is produced because of the tilt of the <a href="https://mastodon.org.uk/tags/Earth" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Earth</span></a> in its orbit. The slightly irregular shape by the fact that the orbit is not quite circular but <a href="https://mastodon.org.uk/tags/elliptical" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>elliptical</span></a>. I made a simulated <a href="https://mastodon.org.uk/tags/analemma" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>analemma</span></a> and posted it here some time ago using <a href="https://mastodon.org.uk/tags/Sellarium" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Sellarium</span></a>, to show what happens.</p>
